My client is a very well-established business with a rich history and very loyal customer base. A privately owned business, my client supplies high-quality products into the catering, pub, restaurant and event industries as well as many other sub-sectors.

Managing Director - SME - FMCG

Description

The Managing Director - SME - will:-

  • manage and direct the business towards achieving its financial and commercial objectives through driving maximum turnover, GP and EBITDA in line with the growth strategy for the business
  • create initiatives to take advantage of market opportunities, reduce operational challenges and maximise the core strengths of the business
  • direct the sales and commercial teams to maximise customer retention and develop new markets sectors to expand the reach of customers we work with
  • position the company as best in class within the industry through marketing and continually driving the reputation
  • ensure that service and standards are maintained to the highest standard on an ongoing basis
  • work closely, collaboratively and effectively with the finance, sales, operations, marketing and purchasing teams
  • review and improve existing systems and processes in place to maximise the opportunity to use technology and streamline the business for maximum effectiveness
  • promote and enforce health & safety in the workplace and make sure all legal requirements are in place
  • constantly review with purchasing, the internal and external service suppliers to ensure costs, review and assess savings where applicable
  • be responsible for the ongoing development and training of the team along with senior management through coaching and internal / external development programmes and initiatives

Profile

The Managing Director - SME - will come with the following skills and abilities:-

  • a successful track record within a commercial leadership role ideally within a consumer goods / FMCG company and ideally from a wholesale background
  • have a strong track record in managing a multi-disciplined team comprising of sales, finance and operations as a minimum expectation
  • come from a sales and commercial background personally, perhaps come from sales and moved up into a leadership capacity
  • be a strong financial, analytical and detail orientated individual - have strong strategic and project management skills
  • excellent communication and presentation skills
  • have the ability to adapt and change when needed in a fast-paced environment
  • have previous knowledge of working within health & safety, HR and legal requirements and parameters
  • previous working knowledge of procurement, sourcing, supply chain, cost-saving and operational procedures and practices
  • successful track record in setting KPI and business goal targets for multi-disciplined teams, achieving revenue growth and profit targets and presenting business reviews and achievements to senior teams
  • have a modern and flexible approach to teams, individuals and business needs - experience of working within a small to medium size business where leadership and setting the right culture is key to success!

The successful candidate will be located in and around the London area.

Job Offer

£80,000 - £100,000 (dependent on experience - salary is inclusive of any car allowance or health benefits) + OTE + standard benefits
