Our client is an internationally operating e-commerce company in the direct-to-consumer sector. They design, produce and sell products in the home & living, consumer electronics, sound & light and sports segment.
They distribute over 3,700 products to consumers in 28 countries worldwide and employ over 1,000 employees strong, working in locations spanning the globe – from Europe, UK, USA, to Asia.
They now have exciting plans for the UK market and are investing in a world-class logistics and fulfilment centre, innovative digital marketing, e-commerce, marketplace development and other sales channels. To fuel this growth, they are looking for talented and motivated colleagues like you to join us in shaping the DNA of the company.
They are currently seeking a Finance Director UK. This newly created and high impact role will be primarily based at their UK headquarters in Oxford, with flexible and hybrid office/home working options. Occasional travel both within the UK and internationally will be required.
Partner with the Managing Director UK and the senior leadership team to set strategic direction and to align our financial framework and business planning
Provide financial, tax, legal, and compliance inputs to our UK growth plans and to the definition of our business objectives and methodology
Oversee all tax, treasury, cashflow management and reporting
Exercise formal financial, legal, accounting, and approval duties for our UK subsidiary and inter-company relationships as a statutory director.
Build, lead, and motivate a high-performance team of finance and strategy professionals to deliver an outstanding and efficient operating framework that supports all our selling channels, product categories, and brands active in the UK market
Provide cost control, investment, and efficiency analysis to ensure maximum scalability and profitability on both operating and capital expenditure
Oversee and control project budgeting including non-cash resources
Appoint, manage, and coordinate UK professional advisors as required for audit, accountancy, legal, customs, property, and compliance matters
Coordinate with our Global Finance function to provide input to group planning and to ensure alignment on policies, processes, and procedures
Provide input and support to UK M&A opportunities, pipeline, and integration
Your responsibilities:
Leading the forecasting and budgetary control process
Providing clear visibility and analysis of our P&L and cashflow performance
Providing astute, timely, well-informed input into all key business decisions
Supporting the formation of our UK business strategy and objectives
Ensuring that all financial, legal, and compliance matters are executed in a timely, legal, accurate, and efficient manner
Identifying and managing risks of all varieties, and ensuring appropriate mitigations and insurances are in place
Your profile:
10+ years of experience in finance including at least one senior appointment with a highly commercially focused business in the retail/e-commerce sector
Qualified accountant ideally with CIMA or ACA
UK Legal qualifications or experience are highly desirable
Import/export customs and excise experience also highly desirable
Experience in a business using the SAP package is also highly desirable
You are ready for an advanced and challenging Finance Director role for the UK business of a hyper-growth global e-commerce business
You are a confident, moral, trustworthy, and reliable individual of integrity
You are a natural communicator who is excellent at building honest and transparent relationships with team members of all levels of seniority
You are a hands-on, commercially focused, and highly analytical leader with excellent attention to detail and a data-driven action mindset
You have high attention to detail and are able to quickly digest data, situations, challenges, or opportunities to arrive at the most important information
You have an excellent knowledge of retail/e-commerce business models
You are highly driven, able to think dynamically and entrepreneurially to solve challenges, and are able to deploy your analytical and problem-solving skills under pressure to deal with unpredictable circumstances
You approach problems positively as opportunities and have a team-oriented and collaborative approach to creating and delivering solutions
You can successfully make progress on complex long-term projects with multiple workstreams while simultaneously managing day-to-day operations.
