Are you a Head of Software Engineering with experience of scaling engineering teams, driving quality and delivering world-class products for millions of users?
Do you want to be able to influence business decisions through technical strategy?
Head of Software Engineering - We are partnering exclusively with one of the UK's most exciting tech companies to find a Head of Software Engineering for their Growth Tribe as they continue their impressive journey. As Head of Software Engineering you will be joining a profitable 'Unicorn' with the remit to double the Engineering team from 50 to 100 over the next 18 months, ensuring that the company provides amazing products and a world-class customer experience. The Growth Tribe is a business unit and not a technology team so you will be a leader across both tech and non-tech teams with the ability to influence business decisions as well as technical ones.
The Head of Software Engineering will initially have responsibility for 6 teams growing this to +10 in the next two years. The leadership team is currently 4 Engineering Managers as well as a Principal Engineer and this will grow this as required. With Senior Engineering Managers in the tribe you will not only manage managers but manage the managers of managers!
There are some exciting technical challenges with a strategic focus on acquiring and retaining customer by providing great products and even better customer care!

- People - Leading engineering teams and not being led, improving quality and motivating them to be the best they can be.
- Process - Delivering great products in a timely manner as they continue to scale at pace.
- Platform - Owning the technology roadmap with an eye on the future architecture required to support continued growth.
What will you need to be Head of Software Engineering?
- A leader who is able to set the quality bar and motivate/inspire their teams to reach that.
- A strong communicator who is capable to having difficult conversations and encourages an open and honest environment.
- The ability to build high performing engineering teams where the best talent is attracted and retained.
- A strong grounding in modern technology architecture and processes - ie distributed systems/event-driven architecture where scalability, performance, reliability and security are paramount.
- To own the Product teams delivery through OKRs.
- Evolve Lean process, driving quality and performance.
