Expert Witness - MEP
Bristol, UK (other locations possible)
£80,000 to £100,000 plus benefits, bonus, pension
North Gate is supporting a leading construction and engineering services consultancy which offers a diverse array of legal, commercial, planning, engineering and technical consulting services. As part of its offering, this organisation has a specialist technical engineering and expert witness business. It specifically provides Architectural, Structural, Civil, Geotechnical, Project Management, Mechanical and Electrical Expert Witness services in respect to disputed projects where design or engineering is a factor. This successful business needs to strengthen strategically at Director level and has a specific opportunity for someone to join as an MEP Expert Witness.
The opportunity is suitable for someone who is either already acting as an Expert Witness in engineering. Or a senior level MEP professional with the experience, qualifications, management expertise and gravitas to be successfully developed into an Expert Witness.
Requirements
Minimum degree qualified or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required; Member (or higher) level membership of the IMechE, IET, IEE or equivalent is essential;
Broad experience across a range of construction/engineering projects and forms of contract;
A keen interest in becoming an expert witness, writing independent reports on construction/engineering disputes;
Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, and flexible attitude to working and be prepared to travel overseas and regionally for site visits, etc.;
Very strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with clients;
Ability to work entrepreneurially and innovatively to identify areas for business growth; and
A working knowledge of Hevacomp and other MEP software would be useful, but not essential.
The successful candidate would be joining a friendly, established group of Experts and consultants in a business with vast opportunities for career development. Even though the work is often contentious, complex and challenging, the spirit amongst them is always excellent.
