What's involved with this role:
Interim Head of Development -Remote Working - PSR 1JP00048506 Pay Rate: Up to £600 per day pay range subject to IR35 status Previous strong experience in a central government ministry space / Demand Management and Government PMO's is essential for this role. Key Accountabilities:
  • Developing and evolving an effective and agile portfolio definition and demand process that meets the needs of the directorate and aligns with wider organisational processes and governance
  • Ensuring the approach taken delivers insight that helps the team to make informed strategic and tactical decisions on how and were to invest constrained resources
  • Support team governance, ensuring high quality portfolio outputs are fed into the right forums at the right time
  • Working closely with teams across the organisation to develop a view of the pipeline of demand, enabling early triage and effective use of resources
  • Ensure our approach to portfolio management and demand management evolves as organisational transitions to steady state
  • Develop efficient and agile processes and ensure these are run effectively to deliver the required outcomes
  • Build a pipeline of new demand, enabling visibility of new initiatives and early triage to ensure effective use of resources
  • Develop a deep understanding of delivery across the team, supporting the SLT in making strategic and tactical decisions on delivery
  • Develop high quality, insight led, outputs to support SLT decision making
  • Build relationships with a range of stakeholders, at all levels of the organisation, to support decision making and ensure effective delivery
Key Requirements:
  • Portfolio Management and Planning experience
  • Briefing and presentation experience
  • Previous experience of building productive working relationships quickly to build confidence with the programmes and projects
  • Previous experience of building relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Experience of leading Portfolio management activities within a fast paced, customer centric environment, within the civil service or local government and in data related engagements
  • Ability to develop efficient and effective processes
  • Data analysis and insight development
  • Ability to work with, and influence, a wide range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Ability to flex across a range of priorities and deliver quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to identify and manage dependencies with other teams across the Programme
  • Able to work independently make decisions and judgement calls on behalf of executives and the team to progress work at pace
  • Confident liaising with and influencing at C suite level, able to challenge the status quo yet take a balanced approach across the programme
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to chair meetings in place of executives where required
  • Player-manager for the Customer Service Portfolio Office with the willingness to dive into the detail where required to resolve issues quickly and thoroughly
  • Able to work with ambiguity and conflicting priorities in a challenging and fast-pace environment
