Interim Head of Simulation Modelling -Remote Working - PSR1JP00048695 Pay Rate: Up to £600 per day pay range subject to IR35 status Demand and Capacity Modelling provides the authoritative view of short, medium and long-term demand and capacity for the current programme, in order to support strategic planning, procurement and operational decision-making. Demand Model Development is a mixed profession team of Data Scientists and Developers, working with stakeholders across the project on influential and exciting analysis over all time scales, from next-day operational decisions to long term planning scenarios and value for money. An experienced product owner is required to take a leadership role within two of the existing modelling teams. The Head of Simulation Modelling will work with the Model Development Leads to translate business requirements into specific outputs and play the primary role in prioritisation of new features and simulation runs. You will be a technically strong candidate with excellent communication and prioritisation abilities. You will understand what is required to develop a forecasting model but will not necessarily be involved in day-to-day development. You will be comfortable asking challenging questions to proactively uncover challenges and requirements for the wider Operations Directorate before the emerge. Key Accountabilities:

- To be responsible for maintaining and extending two critical models at the heart of the Programme. These models will support decision makers to plan for operational and strategic changes to the network over the winter and spring during which time the Programme will undergo a period of significant change.
- Each model is owned by a team of three python developers. Your role will be to bridge between the existing teams and the rest of the organisation to ensure that the models are used and extended in order to maximise their utility to the rest of the programme.
- You will have management responsibility for each of the Model Development Leads.
- Engaging with business areas and Senior Leadership to understand strategic choices which are likely to face Operations in the coming months
- Translate these decisions into scenarios and modelling requirements
- Manage 2 teams of developers to add functionality to existing models to answer new questions as they evolve
- Prioritise work such that the teams' output is as impactful for current Operations as possible
- Reporting to the Head of Demand Model Development.
- Relevant product ownership experience
- Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas and systems
- Ability to translate ill-defined asks into specific programming requirements
- Ability to prioritise feature development
- Experience with Simulation Models and Simulation Modelling Logic (e.g. Discrete Event, System Dynamics, Agent Based)
- Experience with Agile project management
- Some data science or data analysis experience
