My Client, an innovative Housing Association in North London, seeks a Head of Energy for a contract role

You will lead on the development and expansion of the clients energy services providing innovative solutions from strategy through to implementation, to enhance business performance and achieve ambitious environmental, financial and customer satisfaction targets.

You will need to have a proven track record of delivering energy and heat network strategies at an organisation wide level. Relevant technical knowledge gained through extensive experience in energy and sustainability working for a large organisation. Leadership experience with the ability to plan outcomes for success within a 3-5 year timeline. Experience working with government, consultants and other partnership forums, possessing a strong network of energy and sustainability advocates.

The role involves the following:

Lead on development and implementation of the clients heat network and energy strategy in line with their corporate objectives, establishing the appropriate governance to provide robust delivery.

Design and build the capability to deliver projects and services in line with the strategy, and to achieve the required business outcomes (as defined by key performance indicator targets and service development milestones).

As part of this, oversee the development of appropriate, self-funding project business cases for capital-funded work to improve their energy services and reduce carbon emissions, (taking the term self-funding to mean covering the depreciation charges on capital provided centrally within the client to fund projects).

Identify and raise awareness of funding programmes to maximise inward investment.

Lead and direct your team in delivery of these services.

Continually monitor performance and instigate appropriate improvements.

Nurture and develop your team, not just as a means of delivery of your services, but as a key asset of the client as a whole, in accordance with their values and staff promise.

Deputise for your director, when requested.

Provide leadership and day to day management and oversight of the clients energy services including communal heating and utility provision (landlord supplies), taking the term utility to cover electricity, gas, and water.

Run an efficient and effective business covering this scope, meeting all legal and regulatory requirements and customer expectations.

Ensure that policy changes are integrated effectively into their operations ensuring the client achieves compliance with new legislation.

Align services required for repairs and maintenance owned by the clients utility provision assets (e.g. generation plant, distribution networks, meters etc.) with heat network energy and strategy
