They supply world-class products and manage installations via their industry-leading contractor network, taking a responsive and personable approach to providing high performance, long-lasting roofing solutions

The Role

A highly skilled and motivated individual to strengthen the existing senior leadership team executing the strategic business plan for the business unit (BU) through a period of rapid expansion. To lead the company effectively and ethically in the long-term interest of all its stakeholders, partners, and employees.

To be responsible for driving individual BU organizational effectiveness by developing processes, overseeing employees, establishing a highly motivated work environment, and creating innovative approaches for improvement. As the principal BU conduit to our clients Group Services, you should also be prepared to share your experience and knowledge to the benefit of the wider Group. You will be the motivator and the leader that ensures the BU contributes to overall business growth drivers that meet the Company's target.

To provide the Group Board/Senior Leadership Team and BU leaders with strategic, managerial, and administrative support in the delivery of the business growth drivers to meet the Group revenue target of £75m in 5 years. To act on behalf of the Group Board/Business Unit Leader/ Senior Leadership Team in any number of capacities as the Group Board may determine and empower.

To act on behalf of the Group Board to engage with either their Group Directors, Business Units, Departments, external third parties or in combination in order to facilitate the furtherance of specific tasks.

To ensure a balance of focus, energy, discipline, and organizational management, visible at all levels within the organization. The role will require a detailed and expert understanding of the operational activities and risks relevant to the BU and be able to support Directors and Management in making well-informed and well-researched decisions.

A natural deputy to the BU Lead, to deputies for the BU Leader in any number of capacities as the Group Board / BU Leader, may determine.

To oversee the day-to-day operations of the business, to be accountable for effective planning, delegating, coordinating, staffing, organizing, and decision making.

Key responsibilities include: -

* Supply Chain Management

* Forecast levels of demand for services and products.

* Conduct research to source the best products and suppliers offering the best value, delivery and quality.

* Evaluate bids and make recommendations, based on commercial and technical factors.

* Undertake regular VFM reviews.

* Ensure the security and sustainability of sources of essential products and services to maintain continuity of supply and that the supply chain is sympathetic to the sustainability plan.

* Undertake regular forecasting of price trends and supply chain shortages and their impact on future activities.

* Negotiate and agree on contracts, monitoring the quality of service provided in line with ISO45001 standards.

* Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers.

* Keep up to date with trends and innovations, regulations and new technology that can have an impact on the business.

* To identify the department's needs and actively contribute to the recruitment process.

* To direct and oversee colleagues to make sure daily operations align with the needs of the operational business plan. To manage the customer service aspect of the business and assist when a customer is unhappy with the outcome of an interaction with an employee or experience with a product.

* To oversee day-to-day operations, assigning weekly performance goals, assuring their timely completion, while accomplishing your own goals.

* To assist the BU leader in the formulation of 5 years rolling BU plans for the Group Board.

* To design appropriate staffing structures and principles to meet the growing needs of the BU.

* To develop, implement, and maintain budgetary and resource allocation plans.

* To delegate responsibilities to the best employees to perform them while enforcing all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, training programs, and cultural values.

* To resolve internal staff conflicts efficiently and to the mutual benefit of those involved.

* To act as the principal procurement conduit for Group Services in interactions with BU Profit Centres senior leadership teams.

* To promote the company values (Safety, Purpose, Innovation, Responsibility, Expertise).

* To maintain regular and effective communication with the Group Board/Senior Leadership Team and BU leader in order to collaboratively manage and monitor performance against agreed KPI's. To take responsibility for resolving issues and problems affecting the delivery of performance requirements.

* To work collaboratively with the BU leader and all fellow members of the senior leadership team to support and lead the individuals within your division/departments and cascade guidance and instructions to achieve the required results.

* To regularly evaluate and assess any financial, service quality or reputational risks, and ensure they are considered and administered in a timely and accurate manner and escalated to the Group Board / Senior Leadership Team as necessary.

* To utilise and contribute to the development of IT systems and make recommendations where appropriate for improved ways of working.

* To keep abreast of developments in local, regional, and national policies, and industry good practice.

* To ensure that information gathered by colleagues in your division is robust and in a format that can be used to drive performance and continuous improvement.

* To work with the BU Leader to implement robust processes for ensuring all areas of statutory compliance are being met.

* To attend and provide updates/reports at Operational Board Meetings and Group Board Meetings or other events, as required.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

Knowledge of the relevant regulatory framework within the construction/flat roofing/ green envelope industry (desirable)

Thorough understanding of various business models, good commercial awareness and business acumen and the ability to correctly apply the necessary managerial and project management tools and processes

High-level knowledge and experience of - Management best practice and techniques - Operating procedures Skills and Abilities

Experience and Qualifications

Degree, relevant professional qualification or equivalent, MBA (desirable) Experience

Proven experience in a B2B managerial role

Proven track record of success in management roles

Experience in successfully managing a high performing department or team and being able to demonstrate a proven track record

Experience in coordinating and managing a team

Experience in providing financial analysis and presenting information

Experience in dealing with internal and external customers

Experience in identifying, negotiating, and introducing creative and strategic solutions

Developing and implementing project plans

Working to tight deadlines

Experience in budget setting, monitoring and control

Experience in implementing and maintaining quality systems

Experience in developing and implementing strategies to meet business needs
