Technical Director Job in Dorset (Hybrid Working)
An opportunity for an experienced Technical Director with a background working for a national or regional housebuilder to join the South West regional office of a successful national housebuilder.
Our client is a large national property development business with an annual turnover in excess of £400 million delivering over 2500 new homes across all regions. Reporting to the regional MD, the Technical Director will be responsible for managing the technical department and the coordination of architectural and engineering design within the Regional hubs.
Role & Responsibilities
Responsible for the performance of the team in delivering technical design and approvals required for all projects within the region
Advise the Regional MD on changes in technical matters and provide technical support to other members of the Regional Leadership team
Delivery of an engineering strategy for each project and to maximise value and manage cost at every design stage
Manage all designs to ensure forecast Regional financial completion numbers are achieved.
Ensure training and development of technical staff
Manage a programme of work to ensure the Region's approved forecasts are achieved
Required Skills & Experience
Previous experience as a Technical Director or in a senior leadership role within the technical department of a national or regional housebuilder
Extensive experience in the Design Construction, Project Management of Civil Engineering and Infrastructure
Detailed knowledge and understanding of the construction process for a wide variety of buildings, from low-rise, standard housing product to mid-rise, complex apartment and mixed-use schemes
Working knowledge of planning procedures, development control and building regulations requirements
Ability to manage consortium and specialist complex consortium development projects
Ability to conduct feasibility studies, preparation of fee budget estimates, land purchase packs
Ideally hold an appropriate degree level qualification - BSc Engineering, Construction Management. Membership of relevant professional body - Chartered Engineer/Builder
