Head of Engineering - £120,000 - £130,000 + Excellent Bonus - London - Market Leading Fintech
Overview:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and talented Head of Engineering with proven previous experience managing a portfolio of cutting edge software products, to join a FTSE 250 Fintech company based in London.
Role & Responsibilities:
You will be working alongside the business and will be the driving force behind a portfolio of successful software products, allowing the clients technology function to continue in its upward trajectory.
• Lead a department of circa 70 people (with five direct reports) in a cross functional setup utilising Agile practices.
• Lead the building of a world-class engineering culture by hiring and developing engineering talent in the teams.
• Work with the engineering leadership to define and develop the vision and strategy for engineering and enable your teams to achieve it. You will work with your teams to set OKRs that motivate and deliver results.
• Work closely with your peers within the product area to define and implement value driven deliverables.
• Manage expectations of senior stakeholders in the company through efficient communication and data backed decisions.
• Accountable for both predictable delivery and high-quality output of your teams. You will measure the success of your team through the frequent delivery of high-quality code to our customers.
• Understand the technologies and services in your domain and be able to challenge engineering decisions.
• Develop your team through coaching and mentoring, supported by compassionate but direct feedback.
Requirements:
• Experience of building and leading a team of engineers and engineering managers through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands on career development.
• A wealth of experience overseeing Engineering teams in an Agile environment.
• Experience of working in the Cloud (Azure preferably) and Microservices environment.
• Experience of monitoring and managing products in production.
• Strong previous development experience, although this is not a hands-on role (ideally .NET development).
• Strong project management skills and knowledge of project management tools and processes.
• An effective communicator and able to build good working relationships with people.
• Delivery focused, whilst being agile in approach.
• Excellent organisation, communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledgeable and passionate about SDLC with emphasis on TDD and Automation.
• Identifies problems in processes and seeks continuous improvement.
Salary & Benefits:
•£120,000 - £130,000 base salary
• Excellent Annual Bonus
• 10% pension contribution
