Job Description

• Managing the monthly accounting process to achieve the reporting deadline, approving journals, reviewing the management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Process improvements and implement tighter controls for audit risk areas, including revenue recognition, general accruals, grant income and R&D tax credits.
• Working with the SMT to improve controls in such ares as process notes and the risk and control matrix for those areas, being the point of contact for audit purposes and ensuring that there are no audit deficiencies in design, implementation, or execution.
• Manage preparation and review of payroll, payment runs and VAT returns
• Managing a competent team including mentoring and development.
• Support in the provision of management information and analysis to the Board and Executive management through preparation of a monthly performance and KPI pack
• Production of statutory accounts and liaising with auditors regarding audit matters on all entities as they arise
• Ad-hoc varied projects

The Successful Applicant

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA) ideally having trained in Practice
• Management of a small team or lead an audit team
• Proven experience taking ownership of month end and independently driving audit and regular reporting process
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to thrive under
  minimal guidance
• Proactive and able to organise and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
• Great attention to detail, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong IT literacy - experience of Oracle NetSuite would be helpful
• Team player with good communication skills and a positive can do attitude
