As a Head of Commissioning you'll play a vital role in taking the lead in setting direction, ambition and scale for the CCG and Council's joint commissioning arrangements including as they relate to the Tower Hamlets Together.

About the role

Based in Tower Hamlets, you will be tasked with:
  • Providing senior leadership, oversight and line management to the work of those teams responsible for commissioning as it relates to children and young people's health and wellbeing (including maternity) undertaken on behalf of the Council and the CCG.
  • Oversight and management of Integrated Travel Functions for Children, the delivery of the Independent Travel Training for children, the oversight and management of Short Break's Co-ordination Service, alongside the Children with Disabilities Team; and the commissioning, management and brokerage of accommodation for care leavers.
  • Ensuring all services have effective mechanisms in place to safeguard the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
  • Promoting service transformation, service innovation, high standards of customer care, partnership, and the delivery of integrated service provision with residents and service users, the third sector and other independent providers, and the CCG, other Council Directorates and other public service agencies, and local networks and partnerships.

About you
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in:
  • Managing commissioning and quality of assurance of services.
  • Managing contracts pertinent to the CCG
  • Ensuring high quality service commissioning through innovative approaches
  • Identifying, developing and implementing service improvements across services, including the CCG

Experience is also preferable in:
  • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing with a wide range of people, including Councillors, contractors and other agencies.

About the company

You'll be working for Brent Council, a council dedicated to the positive outcomes for its residents and services.

What's on offer
  • Salary: £550 per day
  • Overtime: options available for overtime
  • Contract type: 6 month contract, likely to extend
  • Hours: 09:00-17:00 Monday to Friday
