Salary starting at: £70,040 / ZAR 1487992

The climate crisis, compounded by the Covid-19 pandemic, requires an unprecedented global response. C40 Cities is a network of nearly 100 of the world’s largest cities who are leading on delivering

C40 is a network of mayors of nearly 100 world-leading cities collaborating to deliver the urgent action needed right now to confront the climate crisis. What we do today will determine whether or not there is a thriving future for our communities, our cities, and the natural world around us. We know that climate breakdown and rising inequality, compounded by the Covid-19 pandemic, require an unprecedented response to match the scale of the crises. That’s why our mission is to halve the emissions of our member cities within a decade, while improving equity, building resilience, and creating the conditions for everyone, everywhere, to thrive.

We have grown significantly over the past 5 years, expanding to over 260 staff across the world, and we are now looking for someone to lead our City Finance Programme to support cities to access finance for implementation of ambitious, inclusive and resilient climate actions, and promote a shift in the global finance system to accelerate climate action in cities and align with the Paris Agreement.

As we enter the new phase of our business plan, it is essential to continue to drive and execute a strong vision for our finance programme, ensuring it is responsive to the changing needs of member cities and able to capitalise on opportunities in the market. We are looking to expand our finance offer to provide support across key sectors or verticals where there are existing knowledge / resources gaps, and to enable C40 to deepen its engagement with CFOs, financial institutions and other key players.

We are looking for collaborative leaders with excellent network building skills, with an ability to distil technical policy into workable influence. Experience in urban infrastructure finance and/or climate finance will be beneficial, as will an understanding trends, opportunities and developments in the climate or municipal landscape. Moreover, we are looking for a demonstrable commitment to diversity and inclusion, along with an appreciation for global affairs and cultural differences.

If this sounds like you and you are motivated to play a key role in combatting the climate emergency, please contact our Executive Search Partners Green Park on Harry.Marven@Green-Park.co.uk for more information.
