Chair and Trustee

We all know that having somewhere to live, a job, good health and connections mean someone is much less likely to commit a crime. Sadly, a growing number of people who enter prison are homeless; thousands have mental health problems, drug addictions, are unemployed and/or have bad experiences of the education system. For far too many this stays the same when they’re released. This isn’t inevitable.

At Nacro we believe passionately that everybody has a right to a second chance, where everyone can fulfill their potential. Our core belief is that a good education, a decent job and a safe place to live are what everyone in our society deserves. We do this by working with Government, local authorities, businesses and other charities to create the best conditions for the people with whom we work. By working collaboratively, removing barriers, and giving the right support, thousands of people have the chance to rebuild their lives and their families, and to contribute to our communities. It’s the start of new chance, not a road to nowhere.

We know our work makes a difference. We know there is still a great deal to do. To help us achieve even greater and more sustainable outcomes, we are now looking for a creative, commercially-minded and dynamic individual as our new Chair.

We are looking for someone who can help to share our strategic direction, and who will understand and empathise with our mission and ethos. Someone with the ability to lead, inspire, and motivate others in an authentic and inclusive way. Someone who will bring demonstrable experience of chairing in a complex organisation and be able to evidence a significant contribution to building business and commercial success.

We are also looking for at least one additional trustee, ideally with experience in digital transformation. For both positions, knowledge and understanding of at least one of our areas of delivery e.g. justice, health, education and/or housing sector is desirable, though not essential.
