Our client, a global firm in the Industrial space, is creating a new Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Finance and Procurement. The CoE will allow the retained and outsourced functions to operate together whilst also providing resources focussed on continuous improvement, aspiring towards best practice. The CoE is a critical component of the new Finance & Procurement Target Operating Model and a key role of the CoE is to govern the relationship with the new BPO provider, ensuring both parties deliver to their contractual obligations and that the business case is fully realised.

Head of Financial Performance and Operations

The Head of Financial Performance and Operations will lead on the performance management of the BPO provider’s service delivery, assessing against performance metrics agreed with the Global Process Owners and will report to the Director of the CoE. The role will include remote working as well as work on site in Scotland and London with some international travel.

The Role

Performance management

  • Lead on the performance management of the BPO provider’s service delivery, assessing against performance metrics developed with the Global Process Owners.
  • Coordinate and support the process improvement and productivity gains aspects of the BPO agreement.
  • Utilise in-depth knowledge of supplier relationship management, industry changes, compliance and regulatory requirements to provide a competitive advantage to the organization.

Financial management

  • Monitor financials, including BPO charges issued to the company and the tracking of FTE numbers as per commitment from the BPO provider in BPO agreement.
  • Monitor financial impacts of continuous improvement initiatives and transformation projects relating to services provided by the BPO provider.

Contract management

  • Implement, manage and monitor the outsourcing contract with the BPO provider, including the monitoring of supplier performance by establishing, following, measuring and observing KPIs and service levels so that contract compliance is guaranteed and operational problems are solved.
  • Oversee Master Service Agreement compliance, holding accountability for ensuring the BPO provider’s compliance with contractual requirements and developing remediation plans when necessary.

Relationship management

  • Manage and develop the relationship with the BPO provider, acting as the first point of contact for any queries or escalations.
  • Champion a one team mentality across both the company and the BPO provider, proactively working with internal stakeholders to ensure comfort with the BPO arrangement and fostering a sense of partnership across the company and the BPO.
  • Develop a long-term strategy for the BPO arrangement, leveraging own expertise in supplier management and ensuring alignment with the relevant wider company strategies.

People management

  • Motivate, influence and inspire the team to deliver their objectives, prioritising efforts and managing conflicts should they arise.
  • Act as a point of escalation for issues and challenges which cannot be resolved locally.

Resource management

  • Manage the allocation of resources and ensure appropriate scheduling is in place to prevent availability gaps.

What are we looking for?

Personal skills / Experience

  • Experience with supplier management, contract administration and risk management preferably with an understanding and appreciation of the global BPO environment.
  • Understanding of how to manage complex legal documentation and translate into operational requirements.
  • Experience of international collaboration, working with multicultural teams and managing complex internal and external relationships.   
  • Ability to influence decisions and behavior with effective communication, persuasion and negotiation skills, with experience in leading within a culture of change as well as an ability to collaborate and build strong relationships at all levels of resources.
  • Project management experience, with a strong ability to identify and solve problems/ issues.

This role is open to both people in permanent roles looking for their next move (although notice periods of more than 3 months could be problematic) as well as professional interims who are experienced in this type of finance transformation work. For the avoidance of doubt, this will be an 18 month contract or permanent role on the client’s payroll with full benefits and bonus.
