Job Details

Founded by Brother Andrew in 1955, Open Doors International works in over 70 countries, providing support, training, literature, advocacy and prayer to the Body of Christ in the places where being a follower of Jesus can mean discrimination, loss of livelihood, loss of liberty and loss of life.

Brother Andrew believed that no door was closed to the Good News of Jesus Christ. For six decades we have seen that truth in action. We are a ministry that is daring, risk-taking, and pioneering seeking a strategic leader called to join the adventure.

The calling of Open Doors is clear. The mission has been blessed with tremendous growth in recent years. But the intensity of persecution and the complexity of serving suffering believers have also increased. We work in a wide range of international contexts with a diverse and dispersed team of excellent staff. The needs and opportunities to serve persecuted believers always exceed the financial constraints of our $150m annual global budget.

Our vision is to see “Christians engaged everywhere, strengthening the most persecuted so the global Church remains God’s faithful witness to the world”. Our global strategic outcomes are about strengthening the Church to remain as Salt and Light in their communities; for persecuted Christians to know that they are Never Alone in their walk with Christ; achieving Greater Engagement in prayer and support from the global Body of Christ; and to see Christians everywhere confidently Speaking Out for those who suffer for their faith.

We are seeking an outstanding leader to join our ministry as Internal Audit Director at Open Doors International (ODI).

ODI sits at the nexus between supporters and persecuted Christians serving the global network through the provision of strategic direction, coordination of resources, Internal Audit, Monitoring and Evaluation and capacity building.

As Internal Audit Director you will head a small team and lead on the implementation of an audit plan to manage and mitigate risks across the ministry globally. This will range from countries where a culture of internal audit, systems and processes are already well established to fragile operating environments where written records are kept to a minimum for the sake of the safety and security of those we serve. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the lessons from internal audits and incident investigations are shared and inform ongoing systems and process improvements.

You will have a heart and passion for strengthening the Persecuted Church. You will be a skilled professional with strong audit and risk experience, strong analytical skills, empathy, with an ability to build relationships of trust cross-culturally and handle ambiguity when engaging with colleagues in fragile environments.

Please consider whether you might invest your passions and gifts in partnering with the persecuted Church all over the world.

Applications must be received by 5pm GMT on Wednesday 15th December.
