Description

Key Responsibilities for the Head of Transport role include;

  • Ensure the operational teams in your region put the customer at the heart of everything
  • they do
  • Relentless attitude to continuous improvement to deliver better outcomes for their
  • customers
  • Able to build effective cross-functional relationships with both internal and external customers to create mutual trust, understanding and respect
  • Efficiently deal with any customer complaints in a timely manner and concluding in a customer focused way
  • Ensure your region achieves all customer measures in line with agreed SLAs
  • Accountability for approx £250m worth of customer deliveries
  • Support the Operations Director on strategic initiatives which will deliver a better service for colleagues or customers or make us more efficient
  • Accountability for the health, safety and welfare of our colleagues in your region by continuously striving to ensure your region is a safe place to work.
  • Work collaboratively with the fleet services team to ensure all operations within your region are 100% compliant with vehicle and transport regulations.
  • Provide strong and inspirational leadership to approximately 250-350 colleagues within the region
  • Continuously challenge the status quo and challenge the leadership team on new ways of working if appropriate
  • Continuous focus on colleague engagement to drive greater performance and champion diversity in the workplace
  • Budget accountability for approximately £6m-£8m per year
  • To support, coach, train and motivate CDC Managers and Warehouse managers and
    drive high standards of leadership

Profile

The successful candidate will have the following experience:

  • Experience of managing a fast paced a multi site, cross dock or transport operation
  • International and national CPC holder
  • Proven experience of extensive people leadership
  • Excellent people skills and able to communicate professionally at all levels
  • Great analytically skills
  • Ability to influence colleagues at all levels
  • Ability to deliver results through the effective leadership of your people
  • Thorough understanding of driving and working time regulations
  • Proven experience of delivering successful change management & performance improvement programmes
  • Self-motivated and highly resilient
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen
  • Live within a commutable distance of Wakefield.

Job Offer

  • Basic Salary of £75,000 - £85,000 +
  • 20% - 30% Bonus
  • Company Car / Car Allowance
  • Excellent additional company benefits.
