Board Member - Independent Safeguarding Board for the Church of England
2 days a week
Competitive day rate

The safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults should be at the very heart of the life of the Church of England, reflecting the values of the Christian gospel and expressing the compassion and love of God for human beings who are made in his image – and yet we know that all too often this has not been the case in the history of the Church and in the experience of victims and survivors of abuse.

The Church is committed to ensuring greater independent oversight of the Church’s safeguarding work, to ensure greater transparency and accountability at every level. The purpose of the Independent Safeguarding Board will be to help provide that kind of oversight and accountability.

Maggie Atkinson, former Children’s Commissioner, has now been appointed as Chair, and Jasvinder Sanghera, formerly CEO of Karma Nirvana as Survivor Advocate. To complement their skills we are now looking for applications from candidates with experience of dealing with complaints or formal review processes in safeguarding environments.
