A commercial and operationally focussed CFO is required for this fast paced and high growth HR technology business. The candidate will be a key business leader at board and will be critical to the CEO's success in both delivering on the organic growth potential and the M&A strategy. Supporting over 700 companies UK wide and counting, the business also has International plans so the CFO would be joining at a critical growth point in the transition from a high potential start up to a PE backed market leader. This newly created role will be vital to their five-year strategy plan.

Based out of their Warrington head office the CFO will be both operational and strategic/forward looking. The CFO is responsible for providing leadership, oversight and direction to a small finance function, optimising the financial performance and strategic position of the business. The CFO will be a business partner for the CEO, taking on responsibility for back-office functions and supporting the CEO in commercial decision making. The business has historically not had a full time CFO, although a strong infrastructure is in place with Sage and Salesforce, CPQ, Power Bi.

CFO - Responsibilities

- Workclosely and collaboratively with the senior management and private equity owners.

- Contribute fully to the development of company strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision making as appropriate, and providing management information, financial analysis and guidance on all activities, targets and business drivers.

- Optimise the company financial (and related) reporting systems, ensuring they are robust, compliant and will support current activities and future growth, including expectations of the stakeholders.

- Establish a high level of credibility with shareholders and ensure strong working relationships with various stakeholders.

- Develop a strong working relationship with the Company's lending bankers, and lead all interactions with them.

- Establish and manage company policies regarding capital requirements, debt, taxation, equity, acquisitions as appropriate.

- Ensure that the company constantly reviews running costs

- Provide strategic financial analysis to the CEO including subscription renewal rates, client spend changes and forecast future performance based on run rate.

- Oversee the legal/contracting process, engaging external assistance as required. This will involve significant input into pricing and contract negotiations with customers and suppliers.

- In due course, guide the company through the financial aspects of a sale process, including involvement in the preparation of sale materials and data room, presentations to potential buyers, review of legal documents and all other aspects of the process.

- Take responsibility for in house and outsourced legal/compliance, HR and support functions within the business.

- Take overall responsibility for ISO and similar certification processes within the business

CFO - Required Skills

- Qualified accountant, ideally ACA, with strong technical skills/CPD.

- Previous Tech, SaaS (software as a service) background is essential for this role.

- Previous experience of data and/or subscription business models and accounting is desirable

- Previous experience of working with Private Equity (either in a PE backed business or as an advisor) is desirable, but not essential. This could be an opportunity to move into this environment for the first time.

- Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.

- Energetic, hands-on, flexible team player, comfortable in a small and growing business environment, probably having taken responsibility for business functions such as Operations, legal and HR.

- High integrity, committed to good and appropriate governance of the business.

- Ability to handle pressure with effective decision-making skills.

- Commercially astute, technically strong leader with the ability to operate at both operational and strategic levels.

- Previous experience of M&A activity

- Previous experience of managing a bank facility and the associated reporting

- Strong IT skills; must have excellent financial modelling skills, experience with accounting and ideally CRM packages and good general MS Office skills.
