One of the UK's fastest growing data centre providers which owns, designs, builds and operates the country's most efficient and flexible data centres is seeking a Head of Infrastructure Engineering, Infrastructure Technical Authority, Head of Data Centre Operations.

This is a key role in the Quality & Engineering Leadership team; the ability to work collaboratively across the business, locally for your department and to lead by example will be instrumental in success. You will lead a team of engineers and through them ensure that all systems are commissioned, configured, and operating correctly within their design parameters and are optimised to ensure highest levels of efficiency and reliability. You will develop and drive best practices and standards that enable the teams to ensure any issues are quickly resolved to minimise operational impact, creating a culture of high standards and customer service.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

Data Centre Engineering, Operations, Technical Authority

•Be overall technical authority for all Data Centre infrastructure

•Provide 2nd/3rd level escalation for all engineering issues (specifically for P1 & P2 incidents) - Resume NoM as quickly as possible whilst following the Golden rules. The role will therefore be in a 24x7 escalation rota with your team.

•Provide mentoring, leadership, and strategic direction to all the staff within your team.

•Attract, develop, motivate, and retain talent into the team.

•Work in partnership with the Operational Standards team to assess training requirements for Live Site Operations technical staff members and deliver/facilitate training as necessary.

•Educate, and enable your team to educate the LSO site teams on the mechanical and electrical plant (MEP) in each data centre.

•Work with the LSO Cluster Managers to understand the customer experience and align the team's activities to ensure it is excellent, end to end.

•Take the lead in communications and relationships. Work with multiple senior level stakeholders within the Company and with customers and key suppliers to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

•Drive the continuous improvement of the infrastructure, processes, and people in your area through proactively identifying issues, a deep understanding of the detail, root cause analysis, future planning, collaboration, teamwork and growth mindset.

•Lead via the engineering team the capacity management of each facility for electrical and mechanical infrastructure.

•Optimise maintenance offerings to ensure all manufacturers and best practises are followed.

•Be the senior lead on all technical approval of change control.

•Ensure technical excellence on all infrastructure systems and ensure all engineering best practices are being followed.

•Ensure the team organises and witnesses infrastructure Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for all items.

•Collaborate with the Projects Department on facility Integrated Systems Testing (IST) with direct focus on measuring the success criteria for each test.

•Drive the commissioning (via the commissioning manager) for all tests of infrastructure elements for FATs, SATS, IST and in operation commissioning (constant commissioning).

•Take ownership of any key infrastructure issues and drive resolution, and as part of this, ensure Company systems are updated.

•Assist the Compliance Team to ensure compliance with ISO Security, Fire and Health & Safety related policies and procedures.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Data Centre Engineering, Operations, Technical Authority

•Proven experience in leading engineering teams to define and exceed the operational requirements of a data centre

•Experience in managing contractors and sub-contractors

•18th Edition certified or similar infrastructure qualification

•HND or similar equivalent experience in relevant area (Infrastructure, Building Services)

•Ideally industry or manufacturer training in generator controls, UPS systems, AC power, controls, thermal management

•IOSH - Working Safely

•Experience in infrastructure and control systems

•Good understanding of data centre power systems and building services generally

•Strong practiced experience of thermal management

•Experience in HV (11kV) switching

•Able to build, lead and manage a team in a way that encourages collaboration and cross-functional learning

•Self-motivated and resourceful, with the ability to build working relationships quickly and effectively

•Excellent organisational, influencing and interpersonal skills

•Pro-active, responsive - able to prioritise and deal with intense moments of high activity using excellent analytical/problem solving skills.

•Comfortable working through ambiguity, bringing clarity and control in a growing and dynamic environment

•Good numerical and literacy skills and high computer literacy
