Director of Sport & Active Campus
Director of Sport & Active Campus - University of East London - London - Competitive
The University of East London has been pioneering futures since 1898: from the 2nd Industrial Revolution through to where we are now, the 4th. We are a careers-led university, dedicated to supporting our students to develop the skills, emotional intelligence and creativity needed to thrive in a constantly changing world. We work with global organisations to make our courses entrepreneurial, creative, and inspirational.
Over the 2018-19 academic year the University of East London developed a new 10-year strategy, Vision 2028, to transform our curriculum, pedagogy, research impact and partnerships; to make a positive difference to student, graduate, and community success. Our ambitious but achievable goal is to become the leading careers-focused, enterprising university in the UK, one which both prepares our students for the jobs of the future and provides the innovation to drive that future sustainably and inclusively.
Vision 2028 is delivered through several cross-cutting transformation projects. One such project is the East London Global Sport Strategy, which places sport, physical activity, and wellness at the heart of student and institutional success. This aims to go far beyond the sports provision seen at most UK universities, by integrating sport with university-wide efforts to attract and retain students, to accelerate their learning and support transition towards graduate careers. Our aim is to extend the impact of sport for all our students, staff and stakeholders, the university itself, and our regional, national, and international partners, promoting physical activity and personal development through sport.
It is in this exciting and dynamic context, that UEL are looking to appoint a new Director of Sport & Active Campus. Reporting directly to the Pro Vice Chancellor for Education & Experience, and responsible for the ongoing development and successful implementation of the East London Global Sports Strategy, the Director will play a significant part in raising the profile of the University as a leading sporting institution. The Director also leads and manages East London Sport, the University's flagship sport and physical activity service, and is responsible for ensuring that the service takes a proactive approach to enhancing student recruitment, satisfaction, experience, attainment and employability through the provision of sport and physical activity.
The successful candidate will have substantial experience at a senior management level in sport management with experience of both operational management and strategic sport development. They will also have proven track record in developing and managing partnerships and joint programmes and will have experience leading, managing and motivating a team, promoting inclusivity and diversity.
