This is an outstanding opportunity for a collaborative and people-focused IT professional to lead a strategic transformation of IT for this leading independent school. Having recently established a progressive new senior leadership team, Sevenoaks is soon to launch an ambitious strategy leading up to the School’s 600th anniversary in 2032. The School is now seeking a Director of IT to lead the development of a world-class digital environment for staff and students that responds to the School’s current needs and future ambitions.

Taking the strategic lead for all aspects of technology and data management, you will build relationships across the school, develop a long-term roadmap to support teaching and learning as well as business functions, deliver transformative projects, and lead the IT team in the pursuit of best practice and the smooth operation of all technology services.

The Role

  • Build effective relationships across the School based on credibility and delivery. Champion and enable effective, sustainable, reliable technology for teaching, learning and working.
  • Establish a strategically aligned and future-focused framework for data and technology with clear principles, engagement mechanisms and decision-making processes.
  • Facilitate the translation of the School’s needs into a roadmap of enabling IT projects. Provide empathetic and collaborative leadership to the IT team, ensuring a progressive, user-focused culture with a reputation for reliable delivery.
  • The Candidate
  • You should have significant exposure to complex, information or knowledge-intensive industries or sectors preferably with an understanding of education contexts. Your ability to understand the needs of a complex educational organisation will be matched by your track record of shaping high performing IT functions to meet them.
  • Collaborative and an outstanding communicator, you will possess the interpersonal deftness and gravitas to forge productive relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • An inspiring people leader, you will have a proven ability to enthuse teams and help staff adopt new ways of thinking and working.

At Sevenoaks our mission is to ensure that students secure their full potential. We prepare young people for life in a modern, global society and seek to provide every student with excellent role models. Having a diverse staff enhances our school community and we warmly welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
