The role
As a Technology Project Manager you will report to the Head of IT Project Management, managing to time, quality and cost all agreed medium scale (up to 150 technical man days) IT projects. You will define them following set governance and adhering to required standards, using the agreed formal Project Management methodology. Managing actual and forecasted budget, tracking benefits realisation throughout the project, you will identify, quantify and manage risks to the success of the project and report against these in a Risk Management and Exception Plan. Creating appropriate project schedule and resource allocation plans using the agreed tools/mechanisms, you will update project progress to senior stakeholders on a weekly basis. Identifying ineffective technology or business processes that are called upon in the project life cycle and provide remediation recommendation to the Process or Functional Manager, you will create a business readiness plan, taking into consideration IT deployment, data migration, capability deployment (training and engagement activities) and any business activities required to integrate new processes or jobs into the 'business as usual' environment. Finally you will assist the user community in the provision of transition support and change planning, ensuring adequate Service Transition plans are created and that Help Desk impacts are addressed as well as develop and manage defined communication channels and/or senior stakeholder groups.
The requirements
A Prince 2 Practitioner/APM Practitioner, you will possess a minimum of 4 years' experience working in a technology delivery environment. You should be experienced in the use of ERP tools to control project delivery (MS Project Server, MIS, Resource Planning, Forecasting, Estimating, Management Information, Reporting). A background in the Print and/or Customer Communication industries would be highly advantageous though not essential, of much greater import is proven delivery of medium level technology projects. Exhibiting strong project budget management ability with a honed delivery focus, you will possess excellent communication, relationship management and organisation skills. A proven negotiator both with clients or internal stakeholders, you will have a decent understanding of Legacy and contemporary technology portfolios and Customer Communication markets. Preferably based in Leicester, you can choose to be based at any of the firm's locations which span the UK, you must however be willing to travel to other sites and it may involve some travel within the EU.
