Part-Time Finance Director (3 days per week), £80,000-£85,000 pro rata

Our client is an ambitious and growing online retailer who is looking for a Part-Time Finance Director
to join the senior executive team. This is a demanding role and they are seeking a hands on, highly experienced and dynamic individual to take responsibility for overseeing of all financial aspects of the business. This role will be a board level position and will report directly into the Chief Executive.

Responsibilities and duties:
  • Drive improvements in systems, processes and controls, enhancing financial reporting and planning, budgeting, forecasting.
  • Ensure all financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation.
  • Manage year end statutory accounts and audit process
  • Appropriate tax planning and compliance in line with accounting requirements.
  • Management of the annual budgeting process and overseeing of monthly departmental budgets
  • Oversee financial accounting and treasury functions ensuring financial control processes are adhered to
  • Develop and implement monthly procedures and automation where possible
  • Lead the finance function and build the finance team as the business grows
  • Leadership of the company's financial planning and financial accounting control
  • Stock and order management
  • Ensuring the provision of appropriate financial information e.g. Monthly management reporting to the board, rolling forecasts, cashflow projections etc.
  • Board pack design and preparation including authoring of key financial board information and analysis
  • Identify key risks and opportunities.
  • Working closely with the Operations Director to consider, advise and implement all financial aspects of developments as the business grows
  • Ability to act as a business partner to the CEO and senior management team, providing strategic, analytical and business support.
  • Drive the financial strategy for the business to support the high growth plan and provide supporting analysis to validate the strategy
  • Manage relations with investors, company bankers and other relevant third parties and stakeholders
  • Ensuring appropriate insurance coverage for all company activities
  • Work alongside the senior team to develop supplier relationships, negotiate detailed terms alongside the company's lawyers and work closely with operations in managing suppliers once onboarded
  • To be a statutory director of the business and work with the Board to ensure compliance with fiduciary responsibilities


Skills and experience required:
  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACA or ACCA)
  • A proven track record in a finance leadership role
  • Experience within e-commerce or importing would be desirable
  • You will be comfortable in working autonomously with the capability to build a finance function in a high-growth business
  • You will be hands on and happy to get into the detail but also have the ability to contribute at Board level offering your strategic and commercial acumen
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • A strong team player, you will be comfortable working with people at all levels both strategic and operationally.
