Finance Director - Modular House Builder
Location - South East / Home / occasional international travel (flexible working in place)
Circa £130k basic plus, pension, healthcare, bonus
12-18 Month Maternity cover (Fixed term contract)

STOIX has been appointed to engage with high calibre financial professionals with a residential property development background. Understanding the cradle to grave process of housebuilding from land acquisition to property sales is highly desirable but candidates with other sectors where project accounting is important will be considered.

Responsibilities:
  • Act as a primary point of contact for the Managing Director and operational team on all financial matters, providing proactive advice and support.
  • optimising the company structure in respect of accounting and financial/business control.
  • Implement robust residential development financial processes.
  • To interact with other Finance Directors in the organisation to improve business protocols and business efficiency throughout the organisation and to share specialist knowledge as appropriate.
  • Keep abreast of current and potential industry developments, which could have a financial impact, assessing the risk/opportunity effect and advising the Managing Director and teams in a timely manner.
  • Manage the provision of accurate, relevant and timely financial information to the Managing Director.
  • Manage, plan (schedule and templates) and perform quarterly forecasts (with support from the central accounts team).
  • Prepare forecasts and budgets including managing reviews with the management team.
  • Provision of financial input and analysis including understanding tax and treasury implications. Ensure that appropriate financial governance is applied.
  • Responsible for the application of the correct accounting standards, systems and processes, including securing reconciliation of records, authorisation and auctioning of payments and system permissions.
  • Provide reports and summary information in support of internal reporting requirements.
  • Maintain delegations/ limits of authority and ensure all costs are properly controlled and approved.
  • Participate in the leadership/ management team in the UK.
  • Reviewing/maintaining financial delegations and limits of authority.
  • Management of a direct report (management accountant).
  • Transaction Strategy & Policy Supporting the Group COO in creating and implementing investment and divestment strategies/policies for UK developments in line with the business plan and group strategy.
  • Transaction management Responsible for supporting and coordinating the transaction, and managing the due diligence process when buying land.
  • Transaction Reporting Support in producing documents supporting the investment and divestment process, supporting the preparation of RFI as required.
  • Financial analysis Preparation of financial modelling for investment and divestment options.
  • Act as Senior Accounting Officer to ensure compliance with and advice on all matters of financial regulation including compliance with the legal requirements for VAT, income tax and corporation tax.
  • Management of capital expenditure/current properties where appropriate.

Person Specification
  • Accountancy professional qualification - ACA, ACCA, ACMA.
  • Experience from residential development is preferred.
  • Experience of property/company valuations leading to acquisition due diligence is considered a desirable benefit.
  • Able to lead and work as part of a team.
  • Strong accounting, strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to take the output of these skills and 'story tell' effectively to the non-finance community.
  • Has presence, is emotionally resilient and has the strength of personality to ensure the perspective of 'Finance' is clearly communicated.
  • Strong communication skills and has the ability to remain calm and focussed under pressure.
  • Collaborative, transparent and has a straightforward approach.
