PROPOSITION

Advisors in the team provide a range of thought leadership, design and implementation skills and project management expertise across a portfolio of global survey and assessment projects which have real business impact. This role requires deep expertise in designing assessment methodology to shape Shell’s strategy to assessment.

WHERE YOU FIT IN

The role sits as part of the Global People Insights team in the OD&L Centre of Expertise (CoE). The CoE will bring together experts from all our areas of specialism – Global People Insights, Knowledge Management, Learning, OD, Leadership and Senior Executive Development, Continuous Improvement and Causal learning.  The CoE will deliver the Shell OD&L strategy, thought leadership, set standards, define methodology, drive innovation and lead communities of practice.

In the CoE Global People Insights team, Assessment and Org Behaviour is the global centre of excellence for Shell’s survey, assessment, and business psychology needs. The team provides strategic inputs into senior management and HR to support evidence-based decision making on human capital. We are the design and process owner for Shell People Survey, other strategic behavioural surveys, CEP assessments, leadership assessments and recruitment assessments.

The role reports to the Assessment and Org Behaviour Manager within Global People Insights. The role has no direct reports but includes a number of stakeholders including HR leadership teams, HR talent and learning VPs, contracts and procurement, data privacy and staff councils. The main stakeholders for this role sit within talent and leadership development.

THE ROLE

This role is primarily responsible for shaping and leading Shell’s strategy to leadership assessment and assessing the mindset and behaviours required for Powering Progress.  This includes the assessment methodology for 360, senior leaders and targeted groups to measure behaviour and behaviour change.  They will bring their deep expertise in designing, implementing and validating assessment methodologies for both large and small scale interventions. 

They will also act as the Subject Matter Expert and Focal Point for other assessment projects/processes e.g. survey design, assessment of potential and support niche communities with assessments for assurance and accreditation.  This person will provide a top-quartile, externally recognized, range of assessment interventions and tools to support business needs, continuously improve assessment processes and tools to ensure business impact and value and contribute to and ensure alignment with the global people agenda.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • Masters or PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or equivalent.

  • Experience in providing strategic direction and subject matter expertise to project leaders (or equivalent) for the design of global assessment projects.

  • Recognized affiliation or accreditation with external regulatory bodies (e.g. SIOP, BPS)

  • Experience as an assessment practitioner in a range of assessment methods within a large global organization or as a consultant to large organizations.

  • Strong knowledge of policies and legal requirements around assessment, data management and professional standards.

  • Experience of working with sensitive and confidential data; understands and can work with HR data privacy and local staff councils to ensure assessments and any surveys meet local requirements.

  • Stays up to date on developments in assessment, have access to a broad global external network of assessment practitioners and organizations, and recognized externally as an expert assessment professional.

  • Proven business partnering/consulting experience; able to manage stakeholders in a global mixed matrix organization; experience of managing competing needs of rigorous assessment, best practices around design standards, and business drivers for efficiency and speed.

  • Negotiates with contracts and procurement/external providers to ensure contracts are commercially viable for Shell and ensure payment to external partners; manages existing contracts to ensure ongoing value for Shell.

  • Strong project management capabilities and ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously. 

  • Experience of conducting market scans and literature reviews on the latest research on assessment and translate them into RDS context; writes papers and develop slide decks for senior stakeholders on assessment data and analytics based off the data; promotes the use of validated assessments and evidence-based thinking across HR.
