Michael Page Logistics are looking to recruit a Global Shipping & Logistics Manager to join one of our clients in Woking.

Our client are a manufacturer of specialist technology who export across the world. They are an established company with substantial growth plans.
Description
The Global Shipping & Logistics Manager will be responsible for negotiating and managing global freight contracts and costs to ensure the best value for money.
- Collaborate with internal colleagues and external partners on customer priorities and to improve efficiency, productivity and processes within the Shipping Department;
- Manage daily outbound shipping issues and troubleshoot delays with the assistance of an existing part-time Shipping Assistant;
- Manage the export of products, sourced products and spare parts from the UK, China and India to thesales offices and distributors globally;
- Manage and monitor inbound shipping and ensure the best value for money on costs related to goods returning for services/repairs from sales offices, distributors and branches globally;
- Ensure Customs and Financial compliance in accordance with HMRC regulations;
- Correlation and creation of monthly import shipment records;
- Optimisation of HS/commodity codes on new and existing products to maximise import duties;
- Sign off import invoices based on cross checks of quotes/agreements;
- Monitor and analyse monthly freight costs;
- Review and monitor logistics partners used for different transport lanes (export and import);
Profile
The suitable candidate will have relevant skills as listed below, either acquired through experience or through study, or both:
- Experience in shipping and distribution sectors, either working in-house for a distributor/manufacturer or managing a team in the freight forward/shipping world;
- Have a solid understanding of the global shipping market. Knowledge of air, sea, road shipments and express couriers;
- Have up to date working knowledge of customs legislation, procedures and documentation concerning export, import, declarations, preferential treatments and Incoterms;
- Be familiar with, and able to apply, HS/Commodity codes and the Customs Integrated Tariff System (and UK Government Tariff System).
- Be able to identify the correct HS codes for Vison Engineering goods and apply them to identify correct Tariff and VAT levels across multiple countries.
- Be computer literate, with working knowledge of mainstream ERP systems and MS Excel.
- Have ability to manage own workloads and drive results.
- Demonstrable involvement in projects related to logistics optimization and their implementation;
