The Company

Leading provider of turnkey Power Engineering solutions in LV & MV Switchgear and protection, including manufacturing, installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs and refurbishment.

The opportunity

As Head of Operations you will take responsibility for delivering Power Engineering Contracts including tendering, managing resources, using commercial skills and providing financial reporting to senior management/Board level. You will manage project teams and assign contracts and tenders to relevant engineers, oversee the delivery of a contract from tendering stage through to invoicing and after sales and prepare and submit required documentation (ie Method Statements, Risk Assessments etc). Attending meetings with clients or other stakeholder's to agree contracts and arrange site works etc., you will request and lead regular internal production meetings and provide detailed input with the firm's Project Team to identify and schedule any manufacturing and site works. Producing resource plans to manage labour requirements, you will prepare and issue job packs to site teams and brief on job requirements. Ensuring all procurement is ordered correctly and delivered on time to prevent delays with projects, you will display sound commercial and negotiation skills and knowledge with clients and suppliers.

Additionally you will be responsible for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, Achilles Risqs and FORS accreditations including internal and third party audits, monitoring and reporting activities in accordance with the 9001 & 14001 standards and maintain compliance of FORS and the Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental policies of the firm and its' clients. Ensuring that Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental policies and procedures are briefed to employees, you will delegate key roles to other staff members and provide regular financial and operational reporting to the Board.

The requirements

Coming from an Electrical Engineering background with ideally a degree in electrical engineering/related discipline, you will possess a sound understanding of electrical distribution systems as well as commercial/financial knowledge to efficiently manage contracts from start to finish. A proven track record in overseeing large scale Electrical Engineering projects, you will have the experience and gravitas to manage the business and deputise, where necessary, for the Board. You are likely to come from a Project Management background, having held senior positions and have the ability to oversee various and multiple projects and Project Managers. Highly literate in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project, you will hold a valid UK Driving license.
