MacKenzie King are supporting a leading professional services firm with international reach in the recruitment of a Finance Director. You will work closely with the senior leadership team to drive performance and to ensure operational responsibility for the financial management of the organisation. As Finance and IT Director you will pro actively identify where performance can be improved and changes can be made, driving operational efficiencies including identifying and implementing IT solutions both centrally and for use within the teams.

Duties and responsibilities as Finance Director

Finance
  • Day to day management and leadership of the finance team in line with agreed objectives
  • Work as an effective business partner to evolve the strategic long-term planning, succession planning and company objectives
  • Implementation of KPI information and relevant indicators of business performance to management team and heads of department, and working closely with them on a day to day basis to maximize performance and resolve issues
  • Produce and utilise financial information to identify areas of the business that can be improved for the benefit of the business and work with all levels of staff within the firm to implement these improvements
  • Preparation of year end accounts and liaising with auditors for sign off and submission to Companies House. Oversee the conduct of the annual SAR audit.
  • Point of contact with banks, solicitors, auditors, insurers and HMRC
  • Contribute to the achievement of the firm's business objectives by providing advice and guidance on financial strategy
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery and analysis/commentary of financial information - to include Weekly Reports, Monthly/Quarterly/Annual Management Accounts, Budgets and Forecasts, relevant indicators of business performance (KPI's)
  • Develop and control annual operating budget to ensure that all financial targets are met, and financial and statutory regulations complied with
  • Evolve budget models to allow for various scenarios, sensitivity analysis and rolling forecasts
  • Contribute to the overall management of the firm as part of the management team, attending meetings, including where necessary partner meetings, Board meetings or EP meetings.

IT
  • Proactive work with the IT Manager and external providers to ensure effective contract management and scrutiny, operational effectiveness and alignment of resources with overall strategy
  • Work in collaboration with managers to develop the firm's IT vision and translate it into actionable goals
  • Direct the sourcing and implementation of new software and hardware
  • Formulate and implement business continuity and disaster recovery plans
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and eliminate them with strategic solutions
  • Identify and recommend new technology solutions to enhance the performance of the firm

Skills and person specification:
  • You will be a professionally qualified Accountant with proven change and project management experience to enable you to take a pivotal role in the continued success of this organisation
  • With a people centered approach you will be able to effectively influence people through change into an ever more digital and agile world
  • You will have the proven ability to influence, direct and challenge the partners when identifying future strategies in the finance and IT landscape
  • You will have ability to communicate financial information and best practice to partners and fee earners of varying degrees if seniority and persuasive skills necessary to instil best practice in them
  • You will have ambition, drive and energy with excellent interpersonal skills, an enquiring mind and an appetite to challenge when necessary to achieve results
