In a nutshell
  • Work with the Head of Banking to develop and implement the Loans business strategy.
  • Proactively own and manage the Loans P&L and financial performance.
  • Drive sales performance in line with the Banks targets and plans to achieve growth and profitability objectives
  • Manage and maintain Loans in line with conduct, operational and credit risk appetites, and ensures the business delivers on First Line of Defence responsibilities.
  • Act as the senior representative in all day to day and escalated matters including formal governance, commercial developments and contract negotiations.
  • Maintain and develop the loan propositions and ensure that Loans meets the needs and expectations of their customer base
  • Drive user experience opportunities to enhance commercial performance and customer experience .
  • Design and implement the acquisition, second loan / top up and retention strategies for Loans

What you need to do
  • Delivery of comprehensive business plans for the management and development of the loans business and ancillary services within required timescales
  • In partnership with Marketing ensure creation and delivery of a sales plan to achieve annual targets and manage trade-offs and opportunity evaluations alongside channel and marketing strategies
  • Full end to end P&L responsibility for Loans, with management of the business area to deliver the sales volumes, income and contribution as detailed in budgets, with close liaison with internal and external teams including Digital, Credit and Marketing, Decision Science and Operations. This includes ensuring all planned activities are within budget and achieve their stated objectives
  • Responsible for the recommendations and execution for product pricing and amendment of product features
  • Ownership for design and delivery of all products and new product development within Loans.
  • Embed and champion conduct, operational and credit risk approach into all elements of Loans; including a strong 1st line of defence approach.
  • Bringing market knowledge to design a propositional approach to acquisition and retention to deliver maximum effect.
  • Work with Credit Risk function to maintain a Responsible Lending strategy, through developing and assessing impact of credit risk customer treatments to improve commercial performance withing credit risk appetite within the business, and delivering portfolio performance in line with the Board Approved risk appetite metric (NIM:BDAR) or other measure as appropriate
    • Ensure that all operations are compliant with regulations, laws, guidelines and policies - identifying any exceptions and addressing / escalating these as appropriate.
    • Liaison with Accounting and Finance on the use of profitability models and the tracking of product profitability and costs to maximise product features and pricing.
    • Contribute to the development of consumer and internal public relations activities and undertake media interviews as a representative, to maximise the communications potential of the Bank.
    • Responsible for the identification and development of new opportunities to drive pbt or sales (e.g. a channel or user experience improvements and prioritisation and progression of ideas from conception through to execution working alonsgside other stakeholder functions
    • Development of close and mutually beneficial working relationships with key teams and external parties as appropriate
    • Management of the team of product, pricing and commercial managers, and colleagues across the business.
    • Management of the customer journeys, ensuring optimisation of commercial funnels and exceptional customer experiences.
    • Proactively identify opportunities to improve product and operational business performance for Loans.
    • Leadership and motivation of the team, setting objectives, monitoring workload and agreeing personal development plans for each team member. Dealing with all H.R. issues arising from the leadership role.
    • Ensure the principles of Conduct Risk and TCF are embedded within the business.
