Job Details

The PMO Lead in the City of London is accountable for the successful design, build, implementation and embedding of industry standard best practices for Project and Portfolio Governance and Quality Control. Integral to delivering these responsibilities will be financial management; resource forecasting; change control; project prioritisation; project initiation and programme reporting.

An energy and utilities body in the City of London is seeking a PMO Lead.

Description

  • Ensure the successful implementation of the PMO's strategy, responsibilities, services and deliverables.
  • Monitor Programme reporting and support the delivery of reporting to Senior Management.
  • Establish frameworks and standards for Programme and Project Management
  • Manage and compile Programme related financial and KPI information
  • Oversee project costs and ensure finances are well managed
  • Prepare and present cost-benefit analyses to support business case development and the implementation of projects that will deliver a step change in PMO capability especially with the use of new technology
  • Provide and maintain a capacity planning and resource tracking service across the Programme
  • Track financial reporting whilst ensuring that the programme and projects adhere to the corporate financial processes
  • Ensure cross-programme dependencies are managed and the dependency log is accurately maintained.
  • Provide a quality assurance role in line with defined Programme Management Office process.
  • Coordinate project closure to distil good practice and ensure lessons learned are logged.
  • Line Manage PMO staff
  • Foster collaborative and mutually supportive relationships with Project Leaders and Senior Stakeholders, assessing cross team capabilities and providing coaching, development and training to enhance project and programme capability and improve collaborative development and results.
  • Responsible for delivery and supporting the Project Delivery team, ensuring effective processes are in place to deliver projects to time, cost and quality.
  • Delivering monthly updates to Senior Managers on the health of the Portfolio, key risks and progress of delivery of the programme
  • Accountable for defining and developing the annual capital business planning process and work with the wider business to ensure a prioritised and beneficial business plan can be delivered, to support the delivery of our risk position and performance commitments.

Profile

The PMO Lead should be able to demonstrat the folllowing:

  • Qualifications / experience of Project Management ideally APM but also Prince2 or PMI are acceptable.
  • Working knowledge of Agile development methodologies
  • Extensive experience as a Project Manager and Portfolio / Programme Manager.
  • Working knowledge or qualification of ITIL Foundations V3 or 4
  • Strong financial acumen, management & control.
  • String knowledge and understanding of industry leading PPM software.
  • Strong stakeholder management.
  • Strong communication skills.
