This Market Leader and FTSE100 require a Head of Analytics & Data Science to join in a newly created role to support Group Finance in the enhancement of information, analytics and insight to achieve its strategic goals. You will be instrumental in designing and driving an Analytics & Data Science strategy and roadmap to improve the level of analytics capability across Group Finance based on establishing the right data, tools, applications and skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership of the Analytics & Data Science team, growing and motivating the team, setting direction and pace, and establishing the standards and principles for engagement and delivery
  • Leading the design and implementation of an Analytics & Data Science strategy and roadmap that improves analytics capabilities across Finance, from supporting self-serve analytics to development of Machine Learning & AI opportunities
  • Delivery of well-designed, thorough, innovative and commercially focused Analytics & Data Science projects to support key strategic decision making
  • Implementing best in class data analytics practises, clear presentation of findings, and helping to establish a core set of analytics tools and data that delivers a clear return on investment
  • Being a vocal champion and advocate for Analytics & Data Science practises and demonstrating measurable value-add from these capabilities
  • Establishing an Analytics community of practise to help people across Finance who want to develop their own analytical skills and experience
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of current performance trends across the Group in order to ensure relevant insights are delivered to support key commercial challenges
  • Development of Front End applications to enable non-technical end-users across Finance to perform self-serve analytics tasks
  • Working closely with Technology and Group Data to ensure development of appropriate data platforms and solutions to support the Analytics & Data Science delivery roadmap
  • Effectively manage stakeholder relationships across Finance, Technology and external suppliers to support Analytics & Data Science team objectives
  • Establish robust checking and validation processes for all analytical outputs, and a zero-tolerance approach to errors
  • Build a high-performing team culture focused on quality and pace of analytics delivery, recruiting top talent into open vacancies, and developing individual team members

Key Skills/Expertise required:

  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, able to act swiftly and decisively with confidence
  • Experience leading and growing an Analytics/Data Science function within a large organisation
  • Strong technical skills background to enable clear direction and effective evaluation of Analytics & Data Science projects (eg GCP, SAP, Python, SQL, Qlik Sense)
  • Expert understanding of analytics best practice and new/evolving analytics tools
  • Brilliant stakeholder management and relationship building skills. Adept at interacting with senior executives and adapting style to different audiences
  • Experienced in setting and driving Analytics/Data Science strategy from the short to long term, and selling this into key stakeholders to secure business case funding
  • Strong presentation skills, in particular the ability to interpret and summarise complex analytical findings for non-technical and Senior Executive audiences
  • Strong attention to detail with a zero-tolerance approach to analytical error
  • Solution driven, innovative, pace-setting and focused on commercial impact
  • Familiar with company financials and comfortable discussing how operational performance is impacting financial performance across the P&L

Profile
