Job Details

Our client, a Government body, is the organisation responsible for providing guidance and advice to all health and social care professionals across England. They are regarded internationally as the leaders in our field and recognised as a world-class organisation of highly competent, courageous and inspired professionals.

The IT Infrastructure Specialist will review the IT Infrastructure and ensure it is 'fit for purpose' and any gaps are highlighted and additional documentation is produced to mitigate any gaps. They will also identify skill gaps within the team and provide on the job training to fill these gaps and ensure the team is fully skilled.

Deliverables will include but are not limited to:


  • Review the current IT Infrastructure and highlight any deficiencies
  • Review the transition knowledge transfer videos and documentation and highlight any deficiencies
  • Develop an action plan and roadmap to improve the IT infrastructure
  • Produce additional documentation in areas where gaps exist in terms of the existing documentation
  • Develop and implement a training programme for the IT team to ensure that they are fully equipped to support the IT infrastructure
  • Identify any risks and issues posed by the IT infrastructure, the IT support team, systems and processes and the transition from the current MSP

    • Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience*

    • Relevant qualification: degree in a computer science field or equivalent level of knowledge gained through experience and further training/development.
    • Microsoft Enterprise or Associate or MCSE qualification
    • Fortinet Qualification or extensive experience
    • Fortinet Network Security Administrator (FCNSA) or Fortinet Network Security Professional (FCNSP) Certified
    • VCP-VMWare qualified
    • VMWare Certified Professional
    • Strong and demonstrable VMWare vSphere skills with a proven track record working with a large, complex infrastructure environment
    • CCNA or equivalent qualification
    • Strong working knowledge of networking hardware, software, and protocols.
    • Strong expertise and knowledge of Windows Server 2012 / 2016 / 2019.
    • Management of Exchange Server 2016
    • A good understanding of network security, practices, and configuration
    • Expert knowledge of Active Directory and associated services such as Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), DHCP, DNS, Group policy, WSUS, LDAP
    • Demonstrable knowledge of PowerShell skills
    • Significant experience of Active Directory administration, group policy management, DHCP, DNS, always on VPN, DFS and authentication.
    • Experience with SQL Server 2012 / 2016 and always on availability groups
    • Knowledge of VMware VDI management
