  • Data Analysis - Hands-on with 1) CPG/FMCG relevant data and analytics frameworks (eg, POS, shopper panel), 2) awareness of various maths & stats techniques, and 3) working knowledge of BI technology (preferably Microsoft Power BI)
  • Analytics Translator - Refine business pain points into functional requirements and write up into analytics-technical requirements.
  • Consultancy - Preferably in Price & Promotion analytics OR Sales/Retail analytics

About the role

We are a growing Consulting organisation with an expanding list of blue chip clients. We are looking for an energetic and motivated Business Data Analyst to join our team to meet immediate demand. The role requires a broad range of experience and skills, focusing on internal business consultancy, data analysis and Business Intelligence to develop analytics solutions.

To be successful, the candidate should thrive working with both technical teams and commercial business teams. A fundamental expectation of the role is ensuring a healthy balance between global scale and local relevancy of the solutions. The candidate will be both an individual contributor and manager, expected to manage a team comprising of third-party contractors and external analytics partners.

Key Accountabilities

  • Own the market engagement, requirement gathering and translation into analytics requirements.
  • Lead the development of the user-journey golden template and local customisation (includes KPIs calculations) prototypes.
  • Partner with the key stakeholders in the identification of data sources to fulfil requirements for analytical capabilities
  • Understand different project delivery methodologies (eg, waterfall, agile scrum) and determine the best approach for each demand. To drive and disseminate discipline on scope management.
  • Create and maintain project work plans for the data workstream in analytical projects.
  • Lead the delivery of the agreed capabilities, working with virtual/physical teams. To understand and apply the D&A analytics framework, delivery model and best practice guidelines.
  • To work with other D&A teams and suppliers to estimate implementation time and costs for the analytical projects and to drive cost efficiencies
  • Leading meetings to present design proposal and recommendations to business partners and internal team members
  • Support transition to "business as usual", including embedding solution in business process & value tracking

Relevant Experience:

  • Have Undergraduate or Masters Degree level qualifications. Preferred (but not a requirement) disciplines include; Operations Research, Economics/Mathematics, Business Studies/MBA, Engineering, Computer Science.
  • Strong track record of working with business users to drive definition, alignment, and support for the application of analytics and data to address complex business issues (eg centralisation of promotion spending decisions)
  • Passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data
  • Ability to rapidly connect + match analytics and data products to business needs
  • Expert knowledge of an analysis tool such as Microsoft PowerBI and Tableau
  • Working knowledge of an analysis tool such as R, Python, or PySpark.
  • Working knowledge to apply Microsoft Azure analytics product to develop scaled analytic models in the cloud
  • Ability to apply an agile analytic approach that allows for results at varying levels of precision
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative insights in a precise, and actionable manner
