Job Details

Wonderful opportunity to step into the first board level finance role within an established, entrepreneurial agency looking to build towards an exit in the medium term.

Supplying multiple content and branding services to a niche client base this acquisitive agency has proved extremely resilient during the pandemic, preserving its bottom line whilst sales were only marginally affected.  It is now well placed to continue its pre-pandemic growth trajectory, increasing revenue from existing clients and gaining news ones.

The Founder / CEO is looking for a real business partner for the first time, someone that can contribute to the decisions that will maximise the profitable growth of the business.  The primary purpose of the role remains the integrity and accuracy of all financial information, statutory, commercial, cash, tax and systems.  The finance function has until recently provided only a basic service but is being upgraded through additional manpower and improved technology to become integral to the business and the decision-making process. The recruitment of a Finance Director is central to those efforts.

The FD will partner closely with the CEO, assessing potential acquisitions, anticipated expansion into new territories and additional client services, all whilst keeping a close eye on the bottom line and the goal of a lucrative exit for the shareholders.

Applications are invited from qualified accountants who must have experience of running the finance function of an autonomous business running an agency style model; dealing with a selection of clients requiring a whole variety of similar marketing services, mostly project based in nature.

Candidates must be adept at working in an entrepreneur-led environment, providing ad hoc support to a CEO with real vision and ambition for the business over the next few years.  You will need the soft skills required to build relationships throughout the business, from content creators to business development to operational managers.

Experience of M&A and / or an exit process would be a real advantage, as would the potential to step into a more operational role in time, but a track record of seeking and managing change is a must.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop a newly imagined senior finance role and thus experience and influence the growth of an exciting digital content agency as it heads for a corporate event, one which a successful FD could expect to benefit from via an options package.
