We are looking to appoint a Chief Operating Officer (COO) as part of the Head Office Central Team to support the Chief Executive in the management and delivery of strategic and operational objectives. The newly created role is a key post in the senior management team and will work across a multi-site organisation with overall responsibility for Business Services including Digital and IT Strategy.

The COO will oversee all aspects of the strategic development, operational delivery of Harris Federation’s Business Support Services. The COO will report into the CEO, acting as a key advisor on organisational strategy and high-risk operational matters. The role will oversee a large team and therefore a clear vision for outstanding services and strong, resilient, leadership style is necessary.

The successful candidate needs to be a collaborative leader with a proven track record in executive leadership and ideally with leadership experience in the public sector and/or not-for-profit organisations.

Working across a multi-site organisation you will have the overall responsibility for Finance, HR (inc. recruitment systems), IT (inc. data management systems), Estates, Recruitment, (Data Management, H&S) and other key services as well as leading on projects for the Trust. Exceptional interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels.

Responsibilities for the post include:

  • Design, adapt and implement strategies, plans and procedures for the Harris Federation

  • Set comprehensive goals and objectives for the continued performance and growth of the Harris Federation

  • Review and evolve policies that promote the culture, ethos and vision of the Harris Federation

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented individual wanting to join an innovative educational charity which is transforming lives in London and setting new standards in Education.
