As the Climate Change Manager, you will provide support to Group initiatives related to Climate Change, mainly focused on (but not limited to) End to End Carbon and Resources Intensity reduction

My client is a leading Consumer Goods business with a strong purpose and values.

Description

You will be key to supporting the business in developing and driving continuous improvement in the Group's Climate Policy and Standards and delivering projects to deliver Environmental, Social and Governance goals.

  • Support the Procurement and Product Development functions in initiatives related to new materials and product development in delivery of the Group Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) targets and goals
  • Continue to develop and drive the Group Internal carbon pricing programme
  • Lead projects related to reducing downstream Scope 3 emissions, including impact assessment portfolio innovations as well as take-back-schemes and post consumption waste reduction projects
  • Provide expert support to End to End (E2E) Group Decarbonisation and Natural Resources overall strategy throughout the value chain including consumer goods End of Life management.
  • Provide expert support to Climate Change Physical and Transition Risk Reduction projects ensuring that they align to the business' pathway towards Net Zero emissions, zero waste and responsible use of resources end-to-end
  • Development of relevant climate related standards and guidelines.

Profile

Experience Required

  • Solid experience managing Climate Change as well as End of Life waste management related projects within Environmental Sustainability, R&D; Procurement and/or Manufacturing functions preferably in Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Companies
  • Good knowledge of ISO14021 on environmental Claims
  • Experience with internal carbon pricing (shadow pricing applications)
  • Experience with environmental sustainability reporting

Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required

  • Excellent knowledge of Carbon emissions reporting protocols (Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Science-Based Targets Criteria and Guidelines, Global Reporting Initiative, etc.)
  • Excellent knowledge of Life Cycle Analysis tools and standards
  • Good knowledge of reporting guidelines such as formerly Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Dow Jones Sustainability Index etc.
  • Excellent team interaction and interpersonal skills, able to influence key stakeholders to own and drive the implementation of the environmental sustainability strategy
  • Strong business acumen and commercial awareness to apply change management
  • Excellent planning and project management skills

Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant area in Environmental Engineering or related
