My client is looking for an experienced Head of Web Platform that will deliver a world-class SaaS based platform that is at the forefront of medical technology. They require someone from a software engineering background, who has a strong view on technical excellence, and has walked the walk, and has ideally contributed to successfully growing engineering teams from 20 to 40+ Engineers across full stack development (JavaScript). The successful candidate will be partly hands-on, and will be heavily involved in developing technical excellence, engineering strategy and architecture.

Responsibilities:

• Be hands-on, pair-program, code-review, and understand how to improve our lead times and error rates
• Manage Engineering teams focused in or around different domains eg Business tooling, AR, etc
• Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development
• Partner effectively with product/program managers to maintain and execute against the product roadmap, lead agile ceremonies, and
• drive deliverables, timelines, milestones to successful outcomes
• Develop a repeatable structured approach for capturing and describing essential enterprise information
• Understand our priorities and keep the team on track by encouraging communication and collaboration
• Contribute to L2 and L3 support, both internal and external
• Contribute to testing, change management, feature release, and planning
• Ensure compliance with all global requirements, including ISO, IEC, GDPR, HIPAA, FDA, CE
• Use metrics and data to influence decisions

Required skills:

• BSc in Computer Science, and/or relevant experience as a substitute
• A high degree of empathy and excellent interpersonal skills
• 10+ years of commercial experience delivering products from concept to production
• 5+ years of experience managing 5+ Senior/Lead Engineers
• Experience with large-scale multi-tiered systems and service-oriented architecture
• Experience in Atlassian products (Jira, Jira Service Desk, Confluence, etc)
• Experience in Agile, Lean and Secure SDLC techniques such as Risk Management, Compliance Audits, User Stories, ATDD, TDD,
• BDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Authorised scans, PEN Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games, etc
• Experience working in cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams
• Experience defining vision and strategy for a technical product
• Experience in HR responsibilities such as recruitment, 1 on 1s, growth frameworks
• Experience in modern architecture/stacks such as MERN, Serverless, Containers
• Experience managing and monitoring different systems in production
• Experience applying different patterns to new and Legacy codebases eg strangler pattern
• Experience removing Engineering bottlenecks/errors eg time to deploy, bugs fixed per week
• An expert in 2 or more of the following languages: JavaScript or TypeScript, Swift, Objective-C, Java (Android), Kotlin, Python, C++, PHP
• Production experience with 1 or more of the following cloud providers: AWS, Oracle, or Azure

Desired skills

• Cloud certified in AWS, Oracle, or Azure
• 1+ years of experience in a start-up/scale-up environment
• Experience in compliant systems eg ISO 27001, SOC-2, HIPAA, GDPR
• Certifications in processes such as Scrum, LeSS or SAFe Agile
• Experience (and certified in) developing products and services that conform to standards of safety, privacy, and regulatory requirements
• Knowledge of the Military, NHS, and the healthcare IT market
• Experience managing Firewalls, Switches, WiFi & VoIP equipment
• Experience with media encoders and decoders
• Experience/good knowledge of Azure, AWS, Network protocols, VoIP, WebRTC
