The Business Development Manager will be responsible for leading all activities associated with business winning including identifying markets, developing relationships with new customers, creating sales opportunities and promotion of our Engineering services products and services.

Description

This role will be based in Portsmouth however given the amount of travel associated with the role you can be based anywhere in the UK from home.

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for leading all activities associated with business winning including identifying markets, developing relationships with new customers, creating sales opportunities and promotion of our Engineering services products and services.

The Business Development Manager will also lead the Bid programme and develop Bid strategies; implement bid plans and ensure Bid governance compliance. Handover leadership will be to the relevant Project Manager.

To support this role, the candidate will work closely with the Engineering Services team to ensure all bids are focused on development of compelling, innovative, class leading proposals and capability documents, to meet submission deadlines.

The role will be report to the Head of Engineering Services, and there will be functional links into Project Management and Business Development.

Profile

The Business Development Manager will have:

Extensive Sales and Business Winning experience in an Engineering Services domain, market or sector.

A deep understanding of business winning behaviours, processes, procedures and industry best practice in a competitive environment

Solid knowledge of Engineering services and how these fit into the wider UK engineering consultancy market

Experience in developing opportunities outside core markets

Strong sales experience in medium to large firms

Considerable experience in leading, managing and delivering strategically important and high value campaigns/captures

Qualified to Degree standard or equivalent experience is desirable.

Ability to engage, negotiate and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
