  • A new role, lead and develop the function
  • Ground floor opportunity with new and significant high growth industrial group in South Wales
  • Significant fabrication, maintenance and repair projects in the clean energy, offshore wind-farm, marine and engineering sectors

This is an exciting and rare ground floor opportunity to join a newly formed and significant engineering group with a well-defined roadmap to become market leader in the next few years within the land based clean energy, marine engineering and offshore renewable MRO markets.  With significant investment it already has an established growing pipeline of contracts and has both a strong heritage and sector experience within its board of directors that underwrite its planned growth to become a major player in its field.  A specific immediate target is the UK clean energy market with the initial focus being on the maintenance and repair aspects, this will be followed by rapid progress into new build as specialist sub-contractors and subsequently as prime contractors on selected new projects.  Resources and funding are already established that will fuel growth in the medium term to well over £100 million turnover and a lot more beyond in what is heralded to become a leading international operation.

Recruitment of the new senior leadership team is now commencing, and this key role of Head of Proposals is one of them.  You will report into the Operations Board and have responsibility for the global management of RFQ’s, tenders, bids and their subsequent proposals.  You will build a team initially of six colleagues, grow it, set-up and develop the function.  You will implement a management system to track enquiries, submit tenders to new and existing clients, manage the complete bid process, and ensure a unified approach across the group.  You will personally lead, mentor and develop your proposals team, ensuring compliance to clients’ requirements, including completing technical reviews and managing the interface between all disciplines on large turnkey proposals.  This broad ranging role involves the leadership of a wide range of project disciplines, commercial, contractual, technical, procurement, risk and project management to name some.  With a degree in Engineering or possibly Business Administration you must have extensive senior level experience within major international organisations related to proposals management and the technical bid preparation associated with high value complex technical projects for global customers.

Projects will range in value £10m - £100m.  Your experience will ideally have been gained in the clean energy, power generation, biomass, wind-farm, marine, offshore or infrastructure sectors.  Other key requirements are an in-depth understanding of the proposals process and ERP systems associated with large scale projects, up to date knowledge of commercial contract law together the leadership skills necessary for inspiring an experienced team of proposals engineers.  You will be comfortable dealing with high volumes of work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment and enjoy the communications aspects both internal and external with clients.  You will also relish the opportunity of growing your career within this rapidly expanding ambitious group.  The benefits package will be very competitive and attractive for those who are best in class and have the ability and ambition that this role demands.
