About the role:

In this key, high level role with a broad portfolio, you’ll take the lead across several functions that support maintenance production and fleet performance, including the stores teams at our maintenance depots. It’s about delivering a robust and cost-effective supply chain, along with a facilities and infrastructure portfolio that’s as safe as it is effective. And, as a senior member of the Engineering Leadership Team, you’ll also make sure that our change programmes are properly specified, designed, built and implemented.

As a member of our Engineering leadership team, a typical day will involve overseeing the safety of your teams, driving significant culture change, and leading, managing and motivating a large team over people over multiple work locations. Above all, you’ll focus on enabling our production teams to deliver the right trains, of the right specification, to the right locations, at the right times.

About you:

You will have experience at a senior level in a similar 24/7 operational or engineering environment. An honors degree and ideally be qualified in safety, materials management/procurement quality, infrastructure or management together with experience of leading an effective and efficient engineering service function. To join us, you don’t necessarily need a proven track record in the industry this is an opportunity for someone who maybe considering a step into Rail.

You’ll also understand why it’s essential to balance the demands of conflicting business and customer interests with the need to meet all statutory requirements. But most of all, you’ll be a confident and capable leader with an analytical and strategic approach, and strong people management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
