The successful individual must work with the Infrastructure Delivery and Operations teams within the organisation to ensure Network and Telephony infrastructure is correctly released and transitioned to Operations teams. This includes the coordination of global networks and telephony carriers during the delivery phase.

Network & Telephony Consultant

  • Guide and coach a talented global infrastructure delivery team who, with others, define and deliver my clients' infrastructure globally.
  • Participate in the planning and design phases and lead delivery aspects on the network and/ or telephony projects. Participation will start at implementation planning, specification, and low-level design stages.
  • Ensure efficient and effective delivery of technology solutions consistent with business goals, risk tolerance, and IT standards.
  • Work with the Infrastructure Programme Manager and Project Managers to deliver projects to the approved timescale, cost, and scope, and which meets the agreed pre-defined expectations
  • Collaborate with multiple platform vendors and standards to deliver the various components of the network/telephony architecture during the projects lifecycle
  • Collaborate with the Infrastructure Operations Team to transition policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network and telephony administration, usage, and disaster recovery
  • Work with IT Procurement and Commercial Management teams to effectively manage network and telephony supplier relationships, including assets and licenses across infrastructure:
    • Sign off RFPs/RFIs, product and service selections, and ensure that pricing, terms, and conditions for supplier contracts meet the company's IT standards.
    • Establish and nurture strategic global partnerships with vendors and service suppliers.
  • Develop a culture of delivery, change, and innovation within the Infrastructure Networks and Telephony Delivery team.
  • Organise knowledge capture and management within infrastructure and the dissemination of this to the rest of stakeholders or the wider business through training and communications.

  • CCNP level networking required. A degree-level education is likely to present an advantage.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in an Infrastructure and project delivery environment and minimum of 5 years in senior management.
  • A deep understanding of the interdependent relationship between the different areas within IT.
  • Strong, deep, and broad knowledge in
    • Network Routing protocols (IPv4), including BGP, OSPF
    • Enterprise ISP multi-homing architectures, Enterprise MPLS service provider connectivity
    • Campus switching - switch stacks, core/access/distribution
  • Hands-on experience in Network Security implementation:
    • Implementation, configuration, and management of Firewalls. Fortinet preferred.
    • Implementation/Configuration of VPNs, both site to site and End-user remote access.
    • Implementation/Configuration of Cloud security proxy-as-a-service (Zscaler).
    • Some familiarity with IDS and IPS systems
  • Multiple network technology vendor exposure - not just Cisco!
  • Experience working within a large global organisation, building and maintaining a global network.
  • Experience in leading teams through large-scale IT transformation and improvement.
  • Effective project and delivery skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Experience in troubleshooting project issues and adjusting to major scope/design changes.
