Network Infrastructure Delivery Manager

My client welcomes applicants from a range of industries and is focused on bringing in talented people. As an integral part of the team it is expected that the Network Infrastructure Delivery Manager will:

  • Lead a small global team of talented network/telephony engineers to build the organisation's Network/Telephony infrastructure and contribute to the team development.
  • Work as a senior network/telephony engineer themselves for a substantial percentage of the time. This is not a purely managerial role.
  • Lead and coach a talented global infrastructure delivery team who, with others, define and deliver the organisation's infrastructure globally.
  • Participate in the planning and design phases and lead delivery aspects on the network and/ or telephony projects. Note that High-Level Designs are owned by architecture teams; role participation will start at implementation planning, specification, and low-level design stages.
  • Work with the Infrastructure Programme Manager and Project Managers to deliver projects to the approved timescale, cost, and scope, and which meets the agreed pre-defined quality expectations
  • Support other delivery team projects that require network and telephony support.
  • Build and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, switches, UPSs, and other hardware if required

Profile

Network Infrastructure Delivery Manager

The successful candidate will need to have a CCNP level networking qualification and at least a minimum of 7 years experience in an Infrastructure and project delivery environment and a minimum of 5 years in senior management.

Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years experience in the data networking and telephony industry, with a focus on TCP/IP Networks and Layer 2 / Layer 3 implementations and support in either enterprise or Telco/ISP's environments
  • Experience in DC network technologies: Load Balancing, Network infrastructure to support Hypervisor Virtual Networking
  • Experience in cloud networking infrastructure technologies (Azure preferred - Expressroute, VNETs, Network Security Groups)
  • Substantial recent hands-on experience in routing and switching; low-level design, implementation, and configuration of routers and switches.
  • Strong, deep, and broad knowledge in
    • Network Routing protocols (IPv4), including BGP, OSPF
    • Enterprise ISP multi-homing architectures, Enterprise MPLS service provider connectivity
  • Hands-on experience in Network Security implementation:
    • Implementation, configuration, and management of Firewalls. Fortinet preferred.
    • Implementation/Configuration of VPNs, both site to site and End-user remote access.
  • Multiple network technology vendor exposure - not just Cisco!
  • IP Telephony hands-on experience of configuration and implementation: Cisco call manager, Managed Carrier SIP gateway (SBC/ Cube), Enterprise IP telephony.
  • Application Protocols - HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SMTP, SNMP, SSL.
  • Experience with SDWAN, Overlay, and Underlay networking
  • A deep understanding of the interdependent relationship between the different areas within IT and how each will enable a successful global BT function
