Homes England is a national agency with 9 offices throughout England, of which 5 are in the north, and its Head Office in Coventry.  The successful candidate will be based in Coventry with travel to all offices, partner locations and sites on a regular basis.  If, at appointment stage it is appropriate for another office to be deemed as their base this can be accommodated across all of Homes England’s locations. 

The role 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, commercially focussed professional to lead and shape our homeownership strategies across the agency. The role plays a critical part in enabling customers in the marketplace to access the financial support needed to buy a home.  This will involve building a strong market reputation for the Help to Buy product lines by externally developing and building the brand, ensuring a seamless digital customer experience for all clients establishing trust in our products and services.   

Working as a Corporate Director, this role will lead the strategy to manage and develop relationships with business leaders, building and sustaining a network of commercial support for homeownership initiatives. The role will proactively lead and manage key relationships with Government, influencing policymaking alongside our Executive team and Chief Executive Officer.  

A critical part of this role will be to ensure that effective strategies are in place to manage and mitigate the financial, compliance and security, and reputational risks associated with the Help to Buy programme. This will be achieved by overseeing the leadership and delivery of an efficient and effective, high-quality transactional service to customers via our third-party mortgage services provider and through the development and implementation of a seamless Help to Buy digital platform, with high levels of assurance. 

The role will oversee leadership of technical and operational infrastructure to support the development of innovative approaches to funding and portfolio management.  It will deliver a strong first-line risk process and provide high-quality information to critical stakeholders.

The individual  

You will be a highly accomplished strategic and inspirational leader with significant experience of the development and execution of public policy, ideally in a homeownership environment. You will have experience of leading an innovative team with a focus on capital, liquidity and Conduct of Business Regulation in the Banking sector. 


With experience gained in capital markets and institutional investment, you will possess highly developed commercial negotiating skills to enable the delivery of industry-standard customer outcomes. 

You will be comfortable in developing and managing a multi-billion-pound lending portfolio and therefore be highly numerate and risk aware with significant experience of technical risk concepts, models and metrics. 

You will have a demonstrable track record ideally gained in a commercial environment of delivering major organisational change programmes, including digital, cultural and operating model transformations to embed lending and operations best practice.
