Role: Knowledge Director, People and Operations Management expertise hub
Client: National Audit Office
Salary: £84,987 - £121,620
Location: London or Newcastle
The principal objective of the National Audit Office (NAO) is to support Parliament to hold government to account and improve public services. The NAO provides authoritative assurance and advice to Parliament about public spending though a range of work and has a very clear focus on driving long-term sustainable improvement in public service delivery, applying its expertise and cross-government perspective to draw out what good looks like, working with government and its stakeholders to deliver better performance.
This is an exciting time to be joining the NAO as, in light of unprecedented changes affecting public service provision and the use of public resources, we are currently implementing our new strategy following wide-ranging review into our role and purpose.
As our Knowledge Director you will provide leadership to one of our newly created knowledge hubs which seeks to harness data and provide valuable insight as to how People and Operations Management is effectively delivered across government. This hub will build expertise in all aspects of managing government operations (with people issues being a particular focus) and use this to inform wider work. The successful candidate will lead a core hub team supporting a wider network of financial and value for money audit teams across the NAO; build expertise networks externally with government and wider expert communities; develop and share knowledge and methodologies; contribute directly to NAO work when required; and build expertise among its talented and enthusiastic colleagues.
This role does not have direct responsibility for the People and Operations functions of the NAO. Instead, the role will help to build knowledge in how these specialisms are delivered and managed across government and the wider public sector to build a centre of expertise.
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate expertise and significant experience of organisational leadership – particularly within people and/or corporate operations functions. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate their ability to build strong working relationships and influence positive change within large complex organisations and will ideally be CIPD qualified.
