As an established leader in its markets this major manufacturer has turnover in excess of £100 million and a growing international business.  Manufacturing operations are highly integrated with requirements ranging from raw materials, steels and consumables, through precision components to major sub-assemblies that are built into the completed product. 

This position forms part of a central procurement team which sources internationally and supports the manufacturing operations with a supply chain which approaches just-in-time and lean principles.  Systems are highly automated with an ERP infrastructure and a longstanding use of continuous improvement as an operating philosophy.  You will be expected to take responsibility for a selected range of components and associated suppliers with the objective of optimising the supply chain for that category in terms of cost, quality and delivery parameters ensuring that supply risk is minimised.  You will have immediate responsibility for contract values in the range £10k through £250k and, in this growth environment, immediate visibility of career prospects.  Ideal candidates will be graduate level engineering buyers who are progressing their career towards full CIPS membership and who will already have worked in a purchasing role within manufacturing industry for at least five years.
