In the UK, Bybox provide innovative inventory management solutions to a number of blue chip service providers including: British Gas, Vodaphone, OVO and Sky.

The business is keen to recruit a Deputy Director of Distribution to manage their UK Distribution network and drive a continuous improvement culture across the operation with a focus on processes, systems and people.

Job Description

As Deputy Director of Distribution you will have accountability for operational delivery, including management responsibility for the appropriate general management population, implementation and delivery against a range of relevant operational KPI's, and successful performance against health and safety targets.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Own and deliver operational targets
  • Deliver a culture of efficiency and maximum productivity in the operations through the GM team.
  • Ensure that best in class health & safety & environmental / CSR performance / standards are achieved.
  • Ensure innovation and continuous improvement is embedded in all operational processes.
  • Challenging the operational status quo to support improved business performance and growth.
  • Work closely with the Director of Distribution to define strategic and operational objectives.
  • Successfully build relationships and complete trust within the business, with particular emphasis on the general management population
  • Manage external relationships, particularly with existing and prospective key customer stakeholders to drive high levels of operational performance.
  • Develop and coach your team and lead the wider team within the business to deliver the strategic goals and targets
  • Enhance the performance and well-being of colleagues in the network through communication, performance management and training and development
  • Recruitment and resource planning, whilst also effectively managing the talent pipeline and succession planning.

The Successful Applicant

  • Demonstrable track record of career growth in a B2B or Distribution business
  • Track record in operational delivery and excellence.
  • Proven track record of building and developing high calibre teams and delivering excellence in terms of innovation to customers and service and leading gain-share KPI's.
  • Proven record of contributing to the wider business and strategic agenda and leading commercial change.
  • Track record of successful delivery having held sizeable multi-site operational responsibility.
  • Experience of Retail or FMCG, plus in depth knowledge of operational Logistics will be essential.
  • Strong business / commercial acumen and with an understanding of customer needs.
  • Develops effective relationships and build a positive collaborative environment.
  • Strong credentials with industry external bodies would be helpful but not essential.
  • An ability to see things from the customer's viewpoint.
  • Gravitas and personal style to enable senior management level relationship building.
  • Able to create a vision and strategy for the business and manage people to deliver outputs.
  • Strong intellect. mentally agile and nimble and able to see trends and be proactive.
  • Able to see the big picture, strong analytical skills and, when required, able to focus into the appropriate level detail.
  • Resilient and able to operate in ambiguous situation.
  • Prepared to challenge ideas and balance opportunities and threats constructively.
  • A proactive, energetic, pragmatic, collaborative and inspirational leader with strong people and relationship skills.
