Are you a Risk/Business Continuity/Cyber Security/Growth Management/Legal professional looking to make a difference to the education sector by joining an academy trust board? The MILL Academy in Witney seeks two non-executive directors/trustees to join its board. Board meetings are held in Witney, Oxfordshire when safe to do so.

The Academy Ambassadors programme brings the expertise of the business world onto boards at multi-academy trusts (MATs) throughout the country to raise standards of education and improve the life chances of young people, which is critical to our social and economic success.

The opportunity

The MILL Academy Trust was established in 2015 and its Board is chaired by Professor John West-Burnham, an experienced education leader, consultant and author. The Trust is driven by its values which means being truly committed to improving the education of all children it serves and the ones it will never meet. Its moral imperative is to secure equity with the knowledge that the Trust's responsibility does not stop at the end of the school drive.

The Trust's approach is one of sustainability, with growth being defined as improving the quality of education in the Trust's schools. In a nutshell, no school should fall behind as a result of more schools joining the Trust and it continues to work with schools and colleagues beyond the Trust as it always has.

The board seeks two business leaders with board level experience in
  • Risk and assurance OR
  • Business continuity OR
  • Cyber security OR
  • Growth management OR
  • Legal/compliance

As a key member of the board you will support the trust in achieving the following over the next 12 - 24 months:

  • Improve the existing three 'good' schools so that they become 'outstanding' in the next three years.
  • Utilise its effective school improvement model in order to support other schools and communities.

What's involved?
