As the Quality Manager you will be the internal Voice of the Customer and lead your team to deliver excellence across quality, service and delivery.

My client is a leading manufacturer within it's industry. It has a proud heritage and is renowned for the quality of it's products and service.

Description

As the Quality Manager you will be responsible for driving performance across the quality function to ensure maximum customer satisfaction. Responsibilities will include;

  • Be the voice of the customer in all aspects of the organisation and processes to drive improvement through the business in terms of product reliability and customer experience.
  • Ensure that all products are reviewed as part of the design process for potential quality and manufacturing issues including DFM and DFA
  • Ensure that quality is designed into products and processes.
  • Ensure that all prototypes are assessed against critical characteristics and meet the inspection criteria.
  • Work with the Head of Supply chain and R&D Director to ensure the right selection process for new suppliers and that clear quality standards are communicated and agreed.
  • Be accountable for the technical support team and all associated processes. Ensure the best possible technical support and utilise customer feedback to pro-actively drive improvements.
  • Lead supplier audit and approval activities (domestic and international)
  • Development of supplier KPI's and management of supplier performance
  • Lead maintenance and development of the business QMS (ISO 9001:2015)
  • Understand the application of the Health and safety at work etc. act 1974 and other legislation relevant to the business.
  • Understand the application of the Environmental protection act 1990 and other legislation relevant to the business.

Profile

You will be a proven track record in similar Quality Management role. Candidates who have had strong HSE exposure but not led the function will also be considered. Further selection criteria will include;

  • Proven ability to build effective teams - educating and developing staff - effective deployment of resource.
  • Management of sub-contract manufacturing in a variety of suppliers of varying size and capability Managing and leading quality aspects of the NPD/NPI process
  • Managing field quality with demonstrable ability to analyse and improve defect rates in a timely fashion,
  • Implementation of statistical tools & techniques
  • Experience with various manufacturing processes/commodities such as electromechanical assemblies, plastic injection moulding, metal processing & finishing, electronic manufacturing & assembly and contract manufacturing.
  • Proven track record of managing and maintaining external accreditations (e.g. ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  • Experience of conducting risk assessments and recommending controls in line with current regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Experience of conducting site safety walks / inspections and preparation of reports
  • Knowledge of RIDDOR
  • Knowledge of managing and controlling waste

Job Offer

As well as the opportunity to join a business experiencing growth and on a positive change journey, the successful candidate will receive a basic salary of c£55,000 to £65,000 plus benefits DOE
