Description

The Senior Communications Manager will be based in Manchester and is responsible for:

  • Lead on business development and growth, seeking out new opportunities, drafting bids and establishing client relations to build on our existing client portfolio.
  • Establish and grow our northern team of engagement expertise.
  • Oversee engagement and communications activities in the north, ensure they are delivered on time, in budget and to a high standard following best practice.
  • Undertake the development, implementation and monitoring of engagement strategies (including communications and behavioural change) for clients as per the specifications and instructions issued.
  • Financial responsibility of projects and reporting.
  • Provide direction in developing new and innovative engagement tools.
  • Provide support in response to enquiries for information from Members, the public, the press and other agencies on specific projects.
  • Provide high quality advice to clients on engagement and communication delivery.
  • Work across multidiscipline projects and provide high-quality support to internal teams to help achieve project objectives.

Profile

This role is ideal for a Senior Communications Manager with the following skills and knowledge:

  • 10+ years' experience working in an engagement role; planning and implementing engagement and consultation strategies and activities encouraging buy-in from a range of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and experience of stakeholder and engagement planning and delivery.
  • Experience managing a busy team and workload.
  • Experience of matrix management, working across our multidiscipline company.
  • Ability and experience in building effective working relationships with clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills to produce clear and concise plans, surveys, web copy and promotional materials, translating technical detail into plain English.
  • Understanding and experience of managing budgets and time allocation.
  • Experience of data collection, analysis and report evaluation.
  • Desirable but not essential skills/experience:

    • Experience working in the highways industry
    • Experience working in or with local government.
    • Interest in cycling and other sustainable modes of transport.
    • Educated to degree level.

Job Offer
